Speaking of bugs and suck... I ran into a tick on me kitty last night. Thankfully the lil bastard hadn't latched on yet and was just crawling around, but I'm hoping it's the only one we see. Had a terrible infestation in the area several years back where I had the wonderful task of removing ~100 or so from my dog each night when I got home from work.
At the first tick of the spring, I mow the hell out of my yard, rake up any leaves still around and spray Ortho Bug be gone from one of those add water, pressurized sprayers. No ticks in the yard all year. Only saw ticks after hikes, I use permethrin on my clothing before hikes, and DEET on my skin during hikes. I'll usually have to brush about 20 off per hike, but they never actually bite. Screw natural, nuke them with chemicals.
Developed a dry socket in one of my wisdom teeth holes.. it's doing much better now after I saw my oral surgeon and he treated it.. but fuck. Last night was hell. Never had pain that made me cry before... pray you never get one of those if you still have yet to have them removed. And if you've had one before, you know the agony.
Yeah, you can imagine how I felt when I got home the first time and felt large patches of those fuckers on the dog. There were often clumps of 4-5 all latched on right next to each other. Felt really bad for the dog, that couldn't have been any fun for her either.
I just did the yard last Thursday or Friday. The problem with the infestation that was around is there's nothing to say it was necessarily in my yard. We did all kinds of shit and she still kept getting them, which leads me to believe they were coming from another area. At that point, all I could do was try to get some of the neighbors to treat their yards, too.
For whatever reason it was a big problem in the general area at the time; so much so that I think they might have sent some fog/spray shit via truck at night for a while. Could have just been the skeeter spray, but they sure were coming around more often than I'd ever noticed before. Thankfully they eventually disappeared, whatever the cause. I've never seen an infestation like that before and I hope to never see one again.
Now and again the animals will pick up one or two which doesn't require doing anything but removing and terminating the bastard(s). I was bugged out (ah, I'm so funneh) enough to check my bed, though, since I know the cat has been on it in the last day or two prior to me finding the lil bloodsucker.
I'm with ya on the chemicals, though. No way am I gonna fuckin plant some garlic or whatever instead of breaking out the nuke. Ain't nobody got time for that!
I need to find a bigger warehouse within 30 days and probably spend 3x what I'm currently paying.
Dis class man... guh. :|
