I was trying to send a friend a gift subscription to Netflix and I kept getting an error message saying it couldn't process this transaction at this time or some such shit. This went on for a day then I decided to try a different credit card thinking the credit card itself might be the problem. The same problem went on for another day.
So okay, I go to the online chat "help" for assistance. I told him exactly what's been happening, the error message I'm getting, the fact that I've been trying for two days and have tried two different credit cards and the first thing this son of a bitch tells me is to try a different web browser. Really? REALLY? I'm getting an error message generated by Netflix and this guy thinks my browser is the problem.
Okay. Fine. It's all good. I try it knowing full well it wouldn't do shit and sure enough, it didn't do shit. I tell the guy it didn't do shit. Then he puts me on "hold" for like 10 minutes then comes back and says "Oh yes, I see the problem. Your credit card is denying the charge. Believe me we WANT to charge you, we really do. But your credit card company isn't processing the charge."
Gee, really? I had no idea Netflix wanted my money.
I explain to him, again, that I have already thought of that and that's why I've tried two different credit cards, I find it hard to believe that two different credit cards of mine just suddenly decided to stop processing Netflix payments. "Ohh!" he says "Two different credit cards from the same bank?"
Me "...no..."
Him: "Oh. Well you should try my idea anyways. Call the number on the back of the credit card and as soon as the bank releases whatever hold they have on your card then we'll be able to charge you and you can buy the gift subscription."
Then I thanked him. Why did I thank him? I knew damn well calling my credit card company wasn't going to do shit and sure enough, the credit card company says they saw Netflix put a 1 dollar hold on my credit card but that's as far as it got and they see no reason from their end why the charge wouldn't go through.
Man. It's time like this I ask myself; What would Machine Gun Raptor Jesus Do?
