Let's suppose you were buying a child seat for your car. Let's further suppose that you contact the child seat's lead doctor to discuss the medical safety issues in general and, in particular, whether it's okay to use a rear-facing seat in the front passenger seat. Let's finally suppose that said doctor tells you that the airbag deploying won't do any harm to your child, so go ahead and put them in the front seat.
And God forbid, but let's suppose that you get an accident and your child is seriously hurt or even killed. Would you find it amusing that I felt bad for you and disgusted by the medical professional who at best was incompetent and at worst outright lied to you? After all, you chose to put your child in that seat.
Let's suppose the child seat was an option for an event that was optional based on my option to make a lot of money to suppose I was optioning on that option with the option for money.
These are the same, please continue.
Some scamming idiot called me today and said I had won a free medical alert bracelet (I'm not that old yet...mutter). All he needed was my SSN, credit card info, mother's maiden name, and employment info to send me the bracelet.
I told him where to go, and then gave him some detailed instructions on how to get there. It involved a cattle prod and a lot of lubricant.
Ask him to hold while you get the info, then conference in your states fraud line.
I would not say they were the same, but I would say they are each instances of an overall theme:
1. A person pursued a behavior after a medical professional said they would come to no harm doing so.
2. That medical professional was 100% incorrect.
If you can say how either situation does not reflect either of those points, I am interested to hear it. If you cannot, perhaps you should reconsider your position.
I was just reminded I have the pleasure of a full physical tomorrow morning at 8am. Daaaaaaamnit. Whyyyyy. Who is this overachieving bitch that schedules bullshit probing sessions at 8am. Drunk me does not know.
A little late but still relevant...
Sunday night we hosted a big family get-together dinner at our house. It turned out really well, but always stressful hosting those thing.
My girl was baking potatoes. She was having trouble getting the oven to work so she asked me "I set the timer but it is not counting down - can you help me?"
First, ladies, is there any real answer a man can give to that question without you getting pissed off?
I answered calmly "babe you have to hit the start button," pressed it, and in turn I received this death look and demeanor like I just told her to go fuck a goat.
Getting hate PMs and nasty rep comments in the PC is all in good fun and expected.
Getting a borderline life threatening InMail from some whacko who didn't like my professional opinion post in a LinkedIn group discussion board makes me frown...
