Recession!
In before Seran is like "It's not a recession because..." and then mindlessly repeats whatever the White House is trying to redefine a recession as.
Biden will of course try to immediately shift the focus and tout low unemployment, but don’t worry because that will get worse next. It takes a little time to catch up, but as the economy shrinks there will inevitably be fewer hirings and more layoffs (like we are already seeing in the mortgage industry). Unemployment numbers will steadily grow over the next several quarters. The Biden admin will fail to acknowledge we have a problem and/or shift the blame to some external political adversary like always.
We'll see what Biden announces in his speech this afternoon. My hope is he'll come out and state that a cooling of them economy, with the resulting demand and inflation decreases were both anticipated and part of their plan. He can then announce the concrete steps the federal government is taking to keep it a moderate, short term recession and outline policy goals which will help consumers and businesses grow stronger in the months/years to come.
I’m sure he will say something like but:
1) It is not just a cool down or slow economic growth. We’re in two consecutive quarters of negative GDP. Our economy is shrinking. Lets stop downplaying and sugarcoating the problem.
2) Inflation is still rising as of the last month. The federal government can really do only two things to fix it which is reduce government spending and raising interest rates. Both of those actions harm economic growth with the latter being much worse. I mention this because the recession is going to get worse before it gets better. This is not just a short term problem.
3) Remember way back when (yesterday) when the Whitehouse kept saying our nation won’t face a recession? Remember before that when they called inflation transitory and before that it didn’t exist with those concerns being dismissed as unwarranted? At what point are you going to ask yourself the question if the Biden administration is competent or can be trusted? It must be exhausting being constantly lied to and having to make excuses for supporting him.
President Biden has a good opportunity to show the difference between leadership and the showmanship of the prior administration by doing just that ; acknowledge what's occurring, encouraging Americans to see hope and to reduce spending, not crater it.
Inflation is still rising hard and fast and the breakdown of it was 60-70% as a result of energy prices on each step of the economy. Direct consumer spending on unavoidable purchases, supplier cost push, etc. Reducing government spending? Maybe redirect government spending further away from QE and other capital loan guarantees to allow business credit to once against reflect the actual valuation of companies rather than what easy money allows investors to throw at bogus enterprises. Inflation will begin tapering down, but not at the rate the government original foretold. Energy prices are at last falling, but the results will take months to start showing.Quote:

Just out of curiosity, what specific reasons do you think the Biden administration is incompetent and unable to be trusted? He laid out an energy plan which had the immediate effect of halting the price increase of oil. Shell's CEO just gave an interview this morning acknowledging that the SPR releases helped and had that immediate effect of stopping the rise of oil. He also said that despite the focus on Russian sanctions, the amount of oil being shipped out of Russia hasn't changed much, which is a reality a lot of us have been saying for some time.Quote:

Hearing market analysts saying repeatedly the supply side is still seeing disruptions between shipping costs associated with fuel costs and China still having a downturn in manufacturing, what DO YOU think can be done to alleviate that issue.
Yes, he meant to create a recession............ this is why they have been spending weeks on re-defining what a recession is.
Only retarded people will believe him..... which is why you are his target audience.
