It's an ugly scene. A big truck comes around and they drag the dead horse out with a tractor and hoist it on up there on top of the other carcasses they collect that day. It's never a good idea for an owner to be around to watch this. The carcasses are then delivered to a rendering plant and unloaded in an even less ceremonious way. Conveyor belts and far more horrors ensue inside, but I'll leave that to Sundance documentaries and your imagination.

My high school English teacher once singled me out for questions on why we shouldn't maltreat human corpses because he knew my older brother. It was weird because he wore glasses when I and my brother interacted with him at once (intrafamilial reckoning being otherwise implausible) but I guess squinted or contacted otherwise.

I of course told tyrant-201 that smoking is bad, you shouldn't do smoking. He broke my heart, and I heard (in my mind) all of this music.

You might not want to eat horsemeat that has been pumped full of heavy drugs and steroids for 2 weeks before it was killed, pumped full of more heavy doses in order to kill it, and then left to sit rancid for days as it's prepared.

Oh wait, that is how they do it at Arby's, huh? ;)

Don't. I have it on good authority that we only feed the horse meat to Delias. His local stores keep a small stock on hand for whenever he visits.

The key word in all that is "dead."

I don't want to sound cold but, who cares how the body is treated? They aren't mistreating a living horse. It's a carcass.
