Hairsticks:
Ten handspan-sized crow feathers glisten in shades of deep blue-black, each smoothed down slightly at the tips of the quills to slide into the hair to hold and tame the locks easily. A thin thread of black wire winds through the quills, binding them together in a half-moon fan shape almost invisibly. The shape is designed to frame the wearer's face in a halo of feathers.
Choker:
A wide band of linked glistening obsidian tiles forms the collar portion of the piece, fastened in the back with a platinum hook-and-chain clasp. Suspended from the lower edge of the choker is a pale glowbark leaf, perfectly preserved with a thin layer of clear lacquer. The delicate tracery of veins across the leaf's surface provides a dark contrast to its ghostly radiance.
The choker commemorates the impromptu show Lord Veythorne gave of the Lighting of the Glowbark.
Those hairsticks are teh hawt. YUM.

Made of smooth silver, the body of this cylindrical case features a filigree-hooked length-wise flap as the only opening. Lining the inside of the bottom is a strip of thick white velvet, stopping just short of a latch securing the opening of a seperated compartment large enough to hold a few cubes of ice. A square silver plate etched with a blooming rose is affixed to one flat side next to a fettered end of the soft pale black suede shoulder strap.

It is a thin band of smooth black ora with a brushed finish, shaped like a miniature crown. Many long, sharp tines ring the top of the crown with a faintly discolored sheen at the tips that gives the ring a sinister appearance.

A few things I'd change myself, is I'd get rid of those hairsticks. They're platinum and you already have a bunch of other metal names, so it just makes it confusing/non-cohesive. Maybe some of the ebony hand-painted ones would work instead? Generally, if a character isn't wearing shoes (slippers, or shoes, or sandals) but boots, I know I always imagine the skirt to be short, since that's the only way I could see the stockings. Kind of makes for a strange mental image, heh! Of course, that's sort of just a weird quirk of mine, so take it with a grain of salt.

trousers: Airy chiffon dyed a pale, almost translucent grey is lined with a layer of sage satin to give the fabric a multi-hued appearance. Loose by design, the garment falls elegantly from the low-slung waist which features a built-in braided white satin belt. The tapered pant legs tie around the outside of the ankle with removable thin strips of satin ribbon.
*The pieces I am having made to go with it, for the complete outfit are these:
A high-collared ivory chainsil jacket: Dual slits grace either side to create a flare against the hips and a small pleat embellishes the back. Featuring dark sage stitching along the seams, the jacket is embroidered with a blended pattern of modwir leaves in translucent threading upon the collar. Three silver looped frog-clasps adorn the linen from the middle of the chest to just above the hip-length hem.

Scarred tissue, filled with a deep black ink, provides a macabre frame for a dark crimson teardrop. Ash grey highlights have been drained into the ebon black ink, creating shadows and depth to further the image of a brand against her skin. A small scar runs a jagged curve around the teardrop, giving an eerie coral highlight to the crimson hue, while a slender chain of black links holds the teardrop captive within its scarred prison.

This was my very first alteration...since Raidek's backhistory was in the Faendryl military. Then after I got betrayed by Faendryl a few months ago, Raidek slashed the cloak.

I can agree with your stance on the issue of forcing another to know the intentions. However, I do think that the difference between a warcloak and a cloak should be pretty obvious to others because in my opinion, the style of a 'warcloak' is different than the style of a 'cloak'. It is made differently in my mind's eye.

Or more seriously...it's up to you really to determine, and everyone is entitled to their opinion about stuff. But if you take, for example in the Anime, Naruto...all of the ninja's wear a headband with their village's emblem on it. Some people who were ran off, or left the village, slashed through their emblems. It was pretty much known what the slash meant.

In response to Aphyd-- I watch anime but I prefer to leave the anime stuff out of Gemstone, also not everyone watches anime, nor is Elanthia the same world as Naruto's. It's why I hate the people who dress up as cats and actually use ACT'S to wag their fake tails.. and act like furries. >.<
I like the idea of your alter, I just think there's better ways to word things to make them more descriptive and effective. One thing I've always loved about alters like the one you have is that, had you left off the part about the slashes, it would have made an excellent conversation topic to anyone who saw it. My Faendryl has a bloodied handkerchief stitched with wavecrests, with a small hole and a blood smear around that hole on it.. It doesn't explicitly say It was shot by a Faendryl arrow and is embroidered with Ashrim crests, but anyone she showed the handkerchief to, she could explain and it was a good way to generate some roleplay.. people usually reacted quite violently to her amusement over it.

I think the whole war-*noun* fad is dumb. By the by, warcloaks don't exist. Warswords should be the same as any sword (seeing as they're all meant to be used in battle, which occurs during wars), etc.

I changed my girl up a bit, trying to set up a new outfit for her now in a different colour to change her around sometimes.
I really love the dress and bracelet, but I think that you should consider storing some of your items when you are not hunting. So many items in your inventory really detracts from the overall appearance, in my opinion. Its the old cliche' "Less is More", heh.
I would recommend storing the pin, the leathers and either the gem pouch or the scroll case (or both ideally), perhaps store your satchel as well, when you are not hunting.

He is wearing a fuzzy orange lobster hat, a pair of very tiny orange eyeglasses missing the left lens, a gaudy orange crystal ring, a garish and gaudy orange robe, a crude orange satin vest, a limp orange rosebud, a horribly tacky orange shield, a handcrafted orange rucksack embroidered with the scene of a healer tending the wounded, a flimsy orange silk shirt, a translucent orange-banded flask, an orange blood-stained herb pouch, a makeshift modwir splint, some baggy orange leather pants, and some primitive orange shoes.
Although the stick appears at first glance to be aged beyond usefulness, the sturdy, orange-colored wood seems ever strong. Small fragments of skin and hair cling to the rough surface of the stick, suggesting that it has been used more for knocking people over the head than as a walking device. The bottom end of the stick is worn and scraped and smeared with dirt and grass stains, as though used often and recently.
The bright orange robe is made of a very fine silk and fastened tightly in the front. On the back of the garment, white satin threads have been intricately woven into a depiction of a kneeling empath, leaning heavily on a walking stick. Above the design, the word "Stoic" has been embroidered with a thicker white thread.
Delineated in bright colors, small crude vultures have been cut out of vultite and attached in an overlapping pattern over this tasteless orange shield. In the center of the shield, a single tattered-wing vulture stands proudly with its large claws grasping a garland of sovyn clove. It is painfully obvious that no crafter would ever want to put their mark on such an audacious colored and tawdry item.
Despite the aged appearance and many dents on the surface of flask, it appears to have been carefully polished over many years of use. The Common word for "Life" is visibly etched into the metal, just below a Giantkin glyph on the outer surface. Two worn, orange leather bands allow the flask to be strapped tightly around the waist, hopefully making it impossible to fall and shatter.
Consisting simply of hardened leather soles, orange silk cloth, and pieces of white fabric, these shoes appear to have been put together in only minutes. The orange silk bundles tightly over each foot, showing signs of sweat having soaked through the fabric. Strands of white cotton wrap around each foot in order to keep the silk securely in its place.
... that's a crapload of orange.
Decedeck pulls aside his shirt and shows you a white-backed vulture tattoo.
The proud bird has been incredibly detailed to show a remarkable likeness to a vulture in flight. Its beak remains open, emitting a screech of victory, as it grips a severed elven hand in one of its talons. From the other talon dangles a small banner displaying the word, "Vulture" in the common tongue.

Look basket - Slender tendrils of ivy have been meticulously woven into this stunning flower basket. Lined with the finest ivory satin, the basket will hold even the most delicate blossoms safely without being crushed. The basket's handle has been carefully set with tiny rose-carved rubies and a dozen blush pink satin ribbons trail from one side.
Look press - The flower press dangles from a delicate waist chain and has been meticulously etched with roses of all shapes and sizes. You can barely see the edges of several flowers peeking out from its sides, apparantly being pressed flat between the many layers of the press, to be carefully preserved for some future use.
look leathers - Iridescent siren lizard hide, carefully tanned and cut to flatter the wearer's form is fashioned into a suit of armor. Under each scale, a small amount of cotton batting is inserted and carefully sewn in, the whole providing armor that is supple, yet highly resistant to damage. Twined around the neck and shoulders, exotic blood red roses are carefully sprayed to extend down the arms and chest showing off their lovely blooms, without hindering the wearer's movements. You also notice a small enchanter's glyph.
look harness - The leather of this sturdy yet lightweight harness has been carefully embossed with a pattern of detailed roses entwined around ivy vines. A long golden chain holds the harness securely in place over the shoulder and a large assortment of freshly picked flowers poke out from the opening, their stems tucked haphazardly around the weapons the harness was made to hold safely.
I don't remember when this whole flower girl thing started but Berylla has flowers everywhere - in her press, in her basket, in her harness, in her cloak. I kind of enjoy flowers.
Too many pins and things you should keep inside your cloak for my liking.

Satchel (which needs to be redone because the alterer butched the idea):
The satchel is crafted from densely woven threads that conceal the underlying material's hue. The front of the satchel is blended from smoky colors to create the appearance of shadowed gardenia blossoms. The square-shaped flap is edged in a creamy vaalin and decorated with numerous practice knots that run the gambit in difficulty and skill level. The inside is lined with a pale grey silk that is sectioned into several neat areas and visibly punctured with pin point holes.
Ring:
Burnished silver forms the majority of this ingenious ring. A line of the metal connects two sculpted bands shaped like rounded wings, leaving the finger exposed slightly on either side. Inset into the wings are tiny faceted golden topaz that serve as the eye markings. Slender lines of ebony can be seen within the perfectly matched gems, their elliptical appearance like that of slit pupils.
Sliver is perfume holder.
Stay- Now I see why all the ladies make such an ordeal.

Painstakingly threaded onto fine strands of translucent white spidersilk, each tiny perfect sphere of soft milky-white moonstone has been highly polished to accentuate its iridescent pearly-grey sheen and the blue-gold flashes of color visible when turned into the light. Soft shades of silver chase one another across each stone's pallid surface as the light strikes them all at differing angles.

An eternal symbol of elven nobility, this delicate and intricate headpiece has been worked from the purest fine silver threads elaborately linked to form a circlet. Suspended from the front is a small silver pendant holding a radiant silvery moonstone, meant to rest in the middle of the wearer's forehead. Hanging down from the headband in varying lengths are long silver strands, threaded with tiny silver beads which glisten like morning dew on a cobweb.

So highly polished, the silvery surface of this magnificent shield dazzles the onlooker for an instant as it catches and reflects the light. As the bright glare fades, the image of an ethereal elven maiden is revealed surrounded by a myriad of mystical runes and symbols. Draped in flowing robes and smiling serenely, she stands in reverent pose as a silvery moonstone globe hovers over her outstretched hand. You also notice a small enchanter's glyph.

This elegant cloak is fashioned from the finest of pure white silks with a deep hood favored by elven nobility. Falling to the floor in generous swathes of fabric even the tiniest movement illuminates shimmering traces of silver and blue thread embroidered across the back. Where the light touches it, it is possible to discern the image of a rising phoenix amidst a whirling zephyr of brilliant sapphire flames, shards of silvery moonstone twinkling like stars within its nebulous, translucent body.
Many of those shows are very well done. I especially like the circlet and the prayerbeads. My favorite though is most likely the robes. The only other comment I have is that it is an awful lot of white and silver, and I'd add some type of color into the mix just for overall appearance, but that's a personal preference obviously.
I'm still all kinds of against items that TELL you they're beautiful, elegant, dazzling, but that's just me.
Other than that, you all are very pretty!
Those robes are my favourite too, they're the armor concealing kind so hide her ugly 5x elven fighting leathers nicely. And I've often thought it was a little too much white and silver myself so I'm toying with the idea of picking up on the blue embroidery of the cloak somehow. She has a phoenix on her cloak since she has a sapphire blue Foehn phoenix but I was thinking along the lines of ... Illistim... blue ... peacock .. but not sure how to work it in yet.Quote:

Yeah, I'm against those too. I like Menos a lot, he's a great guy, but those feature alters are way subjective.
I like Tysander's outfit, and the new hair (the old hair bugged me, but he took my suggestion!) but I don't think it's really "traditional", given that males of Elanthia who don't wear kilts primarily wear pants, shoes, and a shirt, the same primary male clothes worn today. If it were a cotehardie, tunic, breeches, doublet, hose, whatever.. then I'd say traditional.Quote:

The delicate tracery of veins across the leaf's surface provides a dark contrast to its ghostly radiance.
Ring:
Brightly polished pale silver has been forged into a wide, flat band and artfully inlaid with tiny slivers of glistening black obsidian in the shape of a burning rose. Each sliver has been strategically placed to give the hint of a petal or flicker of flame in an elegant minimalist style.

I realize the cloak is for Aelotoi, but I love the look of it and in my mind, I try to look at it for Jolena as if it is not slits on the middle of the back, but instead to slits at the bottom hem of the cloak at the back, for flare. Heh!
Skirt has those neato EG actions and the sack has open/close actions. All of it is off the shelf.

Inspecting the pattern for a moment reveals subtle rose designs in the curl of each filigree curlique.

The leather of this gem pouch is stretched and distended, a good indication that it has been used to carry a large amount of gems. Fine, yet frayed spider-silk serves as a drawstring, it's normal glistening sheen faded and dull from constant use.

Supple leather dyed to a deep midnight blue, the kit's dark shade was once reminiscent of the twilight sky. Now, however, the accumulated streaks and stains from a multitude of Elanthian herbs have discolored much of the weathered surface. In an odd twist, the faint pattern actually bears resemblance to hundreds of tiny, spiraling comets.
