That doesn’t mean we should refuse medical treatment to them. Most of modern medicine deals with health issues that are preventable.
If it is between a non-smoker and a smoker, I would absolutely choose the non-smoker.

If cigarettes weren't so bad for you and made you smell like an ashtray... I'd probably still be smoking. I'm done now for 8? years and I still get a craving now and again.

I never even noticed the smell until after I quit. I quit because it was just money I was throwing away.
