When your only unit of measurement is the profit margins of Big Oil be protected, it's not hard to see your bias. Personally, common sense and basic economics shows that less money spent on gasoline, or energy premiums priced into the majority of other goods and services means more money available for the economy as a whole.

I'm sure you only disbelieve the amount of price manipulation evident on the stock exchanges trading oil contracts because it doesn't fit your narrative, but the amount of oil the United States produces is a significant percentages of the world supply and every time oil is choked off here by private industry, it has worldwide repercussions.

The good news is oil closed down well over 5% and closed at $79 a barrel today. Gasoline fell almost as much at 4.75% to $2.37 a gallon wholesale. Consumers are rejoicing.
