Animals are the only creatures I don't raise my voice to.
The vet said the dog had experienced abuse in previous homes. He flinches at sudden movement.
It makes me want to find those previous owners and destroy their world.
I hate doing it, but I totally yell at my new kitten. It doesn't phase him at all. He is a terror.
I yell at my dogs all the time. Well, really just the terrier since he's the only one that barks in the group. It's loud and when he gets going, he'll bark until he pukes. So I'm constantly all, "CALLAHAN, SHUT UP." to break into his pattern. Hm. Or all of them, actually, when they're not listening to me to come in from the backyard, instead preferring to focus on winding up the bull terrier next door. The girls drive him crazy, silently running at top speed back and forth along the shared fence. If he starts barking, the other dogs in the neighborhood will. In that case it's "GET YOUR FUZZY BUTTS INSIDE NOW." It's a lot easier than running back into the house to grab a can full of pennies to shake to get their attention.
Ahem. But none of them are abuse cases so they have healthy reactions to my raised voice. They act more like, "Mom must be serious now. I thought she was joking before." rather than all flinchy.
Buying flats makes me want to weep.
Charadical!!!
Fertilizer plant somewhat nearby blew up yesterday... I frowned. And this was not long after the Boston bombings.
