That right there is going to be the interesting part from a legal perspective. Wisconsin laws require you to be 18 to open carry, which he is not. He's going to be tried as an adult, so does that mean he's legally an adult? Whoever purchased that gun is also going to be fucked.

I see everyone pointing to this law and him supposedly crossing state lines (although I have read both he lives in Wisconsin and Illinois so who even knows) as some sort of proof that he's a dangerous individual and deserves to be locked up in prison forever.

Well you lose your right to self defense if it's during a crime. Him openly carrying was a crime, so should that be the standard? I dunno the answer.

That's REALLLLLLLLY stretching it. Typically those kinds of exceptions are for scenarios where you're like committing armed robbery, you can't then claim you shot your victim in self defense because you're the one who was committing a crime which caused the other person to respond to your actions.

The idea that this teenager simply existing while possessing a firearm he's 1 year too young to carry means he can't defend himself from others who literally want to murder him is just about the biggest bunch of bullshit ever and if this is the theory the state is going with then this is perhaps the biggest miscarriage of justice I have ever heard.

Doesn’t change the fact, he went to a protest, with a loaded weapon, he should not be carrying. He honestly shouldn’t have been there in the first place. He obviously went there with a loaded gun and intent. What that intent exactly was.. no idea.. but it’s not like it was the wrong place at the wrong time type of scenario. He knew it was illegal for him to carry that loaded gun... and going to a protest with a loaded gun with his mentality of I need to police this place... doesn’t look good for him.

I’m also sure if he was a BLM protestor and this situation happened, you wouldn’t be defending him. You’d be saying he deserves death row.
