True. This is part of the left-over hysteria from the 90s AIDS media crisis. HIV isn't a "gay disease," but, as you said, because of the higher risk of transmission of anal sex compared to vaginal sex, and quite possibly the less inhibited, more promiscuous sexual attitudes of gays, they're over-represented.

But it's a mistake to consider yourself immune to HIV as a straight person; it's spread like wildfire in Africa, parts of Eastern Europe and Asia.

But can you get someone preggers from dropping a load on their face when they're sleeping is my question.

Sounds more like a trust issue.

Assuming heterosexual refers only to vaginal intercourse, the odds are roughly 1 in 2000, but there are quite a few variables. The transmission rate is higher in uncircumcised men than in circumcised men. Also, if either partner has an STD, even if inapparant, the rate goes up. If your partner happens to be in a peak virus production phase, the rate goes up still more. On the other hand, if your partner is in a latent phase, the transmission rate will decrease significantly. In a worst case scenario, the odds are 1:200. In a best case scenario, they're 1:10,000. Odds go up if you engage in anal intercourse and the odds decrease in fellatio. Also, the odds of a female acquiring HIV from heterosexual activities with a positive male are on average ten-fold higher than that of male engaging in heterosexual relations with a positive female.

It really does take only once though.

Im guessing mechanically the fold of skin can retain fluid near the tip of the penis which would cause more interaction between potentially infected fluid and an accepting membrane...just a guess.
