Because they get the center. We can debate whom they're targeting and what part of the spectrum they represent, we can't really debate the results. People complain and sigh and roll their eyes, and then they vote anyways. Why wouldn't the parties keep doing what they're doing?

Also, meddling is meddling. One leader of a country telling people from another country who to vote for is meddling. Can you imagine the outrage from the left if Putin had gone on TV and told Americans to vote Trump?
