The point should be that it "only takes once." The person can look and feel completely healthy, but still transmit HIV. If you're going to have unprotected sex, then do it with someone you're in a committed relationship with and with whom you get regularly tested.

Lol. Actually, one of the reasons that HIV is so prevalent in Africa is because of poverty, malnutrition and lack of quality healthcare for other diseases which make one more susceptible.

It's not like they fuck any less than people in Europe.

If you are in a committed relationship, what would be the point of getting them regularly tested? I'm pretty sure if I went in and asked my wife to get tested for the HiV, she would look at me rather strange.

Well sure but I think its like a lie by ommission thats its pretty unlikely a guy will get infected from hetero sex. People never mention that the odds of transmission are so much higher for gay sex they just kind of let it sit out there like its a community issue not a mode of infection issue.

Most advocacy groups still recommend you and your significant other get tested at least once a year, even in committed relationships. Shit happens--STDs can be transmitted, as the name indicates, sexually, but not all of them are only sexually transmitted. Additionally, people do lie. It's also possible pre-existing conditions existed but hadn't manifested/were previously undetectable.

It's also a peace-of-mind issue for some.
