I do see a trend. I see a positive spun into a negative when looked at through your extremely partisan lens.

France was advised of the pending cancelation by the Australian government. Other than that, nothing was going to get that socialist regime from QQing all over the news. Another ally is getting better armaments and as a result, America is still safe. Meanwhile France enjoys spending less than 2% of its budget on security thanks to the United States being it's ally.

I reject reject the premise of your argument about Afghanistan, literally there was no successful exit strategy possible with that weak, corrupt government.
