Some jobs just suck indeed. In the end I think it might be time to move on... can't live on f-ing 32 hours a week.
Ok so at our annual support center meeting, which was basically 2 hours of mostly unfunny corporate big-wigs giving speeches and making jokes, they showed a special video they made of some of my department's employees learning of our bonus % for 2012 (which belongs in the smile thread, because it was bad ass).
That video was a Harlem shake.
I wanted to facepalm so hard.
5 solid reasons Buffalo, NY sucks the semen from a buffalo's fat hairy cock:
1). The people from this region are generally ugly in appearance.
2). It is a frozen wasteland
3). OJ Simpson is still on their "wall of fame"
4). 4 time consecutive Super Bowl losers
5). TheE
I counter with why buffalo is badass, and I only need one reason: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Kane
Well 'round here round here in Texas, we say hockey is for those ice fairie northern folk, but makes sense the city would have a good hawkeye player being next to the people "beyond the wall".
Just watching the Friday clock and picking fights before beer 'thirty.
I think the point is that handicapped children and very elderly people probably aren't going to blow up or try to hijack an airplane. Nevermind the fact that these police rejects aren't following their guidelines to the point that the TSA comes out and makes public apologies for it. I dunno, profiling seems like a good idea here and I don't think I'd start with people in wheelchairs or who are sporting diapers. If these people were professionals, you know, like police, and they mishandled shit the way they do, people would have an enormous problem with it. Why do these clowns get a pass?
The other problem I have with the existence of the TSA as it is is that I don't believe they're stopping anything but your average, law abiding citizens of a supposedly free country. I still find it ridiculously amazing that multiple planes were able to be hijacked by people with boxcutters. After the 'fact', does anyone believe that will happen again? I sure as hell don't. I also think that was the best the were able to do during a time in which less security measures were in place. I see the likelihood of planes being hijacked by boxcutters 'again' at 0 and don't think they have any superior means to pull off another similar attack, so what is the TSA doing? Those hijackers were one step above using a damn rock the last time. Are we really that fearful of something happening again that we are not only willing to deal with the TSA, but feel they're needed and useful for keeping us safe?
Your stance on the TSA is interesting considering your stance on guns. On one hand, guns and the way they're controlled now are ok because only a small minority of people violate the law and do atrocious things with them and taking them away or further restricting them infringes on our rights as Americans. Then we have on the other hand the TSA (gun control) in place to keep us safe from all those millions (sarcasm!) of nutjobs who are out to hijack or blow up our airplanes. Why is it ok for them to infringe on the rights of people who have done nothing wrong and are just trying to go about their business because a handful of radicals pulled off some stunt that would be extremely difficult to repeat? Those wheelchair bound three year olds DO look pretty dangerous, though. Maybe it has something to do with the black and silver chairs, I dunno. And certainly granny is at the end of life, so she's gotta be looking to go out with a bang. So, is the idea here that it's ok for the TSA to harass people because they haven't messed with you or are they really on to something here?
For those of you who say you haven't been messed with by the TSA. Congrats. Are you elderly, handicapped, or a hot young woman? There seems to be a trend lying in that direction and it's unnecessary bullshit they're putting these people through. What do you think the TSA is protecting you from when they harass children, the elderly, and/or handicapped people? Are you afraid that the fucking Taliban has coated wheelchairs in some explosive material or that grandma is sitting on a stick of dynamite, tucked away in her diaper? Is it ok for these TSA agents to tell people they're messing with that it is illegal to video tape them (when it clearly is not)? Should some TSA clown be allowed to burst a bag containing fluid (saline) that you need due to a medical condition? What kind of training does that dildo have that would even remotely allow him to make a proper call on that? It's a problem and these people need to be done away with.
SP rodeo houston is coming up!! I listened to George Straight for a whole 30 minutes this morning to do justice to the time of year. (AMARILLO BY MORNIIIIIING UP FROM SAN ANTOOOONE) And everywhere people were wearing the plaid shirts that look bad with everything and fantastic cowboy hats and boots they kept tripping in. The folksy people are terrific today. I felt really out of place in my shades and uptight city clothes.
That's not what I came here to frown about! My day started off shitty. My blender bottle died in a freak dishwasher accident. A raccoon killed a cat and left it on my back porch as a present. And I narrowly avoided a bad pileup on my way in this morning. The day got better but damn....
Anticors opinion is hardly without merit. Of course, that is only unless you are truly of the belief that these several cases are more representative of how all TSA agents conduct themselves at their job or these sort of occurrences are truly policy driven and the agents are just sheep to it and incapable of deviating.
I query you this: if this is such a major issue, why isn't it seen more frequently? Is it possible that the TSA also has employees that are simply dicks or bad at their job?
If these videos were the result of true policy driven actions, why does this not happen more frequently? I'm sure that these aren't the only sick old people or children to have ever flown. I'm not saying these videos don't show true violations, I'm saying it looks like the issue lies with these agents and not the TSA as a whole.
