I think my favorite politicization of the virus is when the media fear mongers about how many ICU beds are currently being filled.

"ZOMG! 85% of ICU beds are being used in Florida hospitals because the Republican governor has failed!"

Holy shit! 85%?! That sounds high! That's a high number right? Because it sounds really high.

How many ICU beds were typically in use even before COVID?
Answer: 90%+

Oh....

Because that makes sense. Do people really think hospitals build ICU units, one of the most expensive units to maintain in the entire hospital, so they can just sit empty?

They are so short staffed on healthcare workers and supposedly so many people are dying waiting for treatment in Florida hospitals that 75+ doctors just walked out on the job to protest against unvaccinated patients. This isn't an SNL skit, that actually happened.
