GM Profiteering Post - Pulled from Officials. Cover up?

Hi,

First, there is _zero_ evidence about any GM wrong doing and I have no idea what happened at Simucon. However, Tservin was chatting about GM's making money by selling items. It's entirely possible that Tservin had no idea what he was talking, but I feel this needs to be discussed. I really have no problem with GMs bidding on auctions or whatever, but there is always a risk of manipulation and I wonder if there is any checks in place. But seriously, I would like nothing more then for Wyrom to sweep in and say how utterly ridiculous this is.

The topic came up because Tservin/Blanks had been telling everyone he just goes to events to buy items and sell them for real $$.

EDIT- TL;DR Thread

This post is perfectly rational and worth discussing. Tservin's comments were aimed at justifying his "make real life $$" by associating himself with GMs. His comments blatantly and obviously insinuated that they performed the same behavior as him. He was at Simucon, I was not. It's completely legitimate to think he learned or had internal knowledge of the subject.

Now, this could have easily been resolved with statements such as "Tservin has no idea what he's talking about" or "he's running his mouth" or "he was just talking about silvers."

INSTEAD, the 'group' decides to condone the behavior and say it's okay for GMs to "profit" off player items. Whether from Simucon or not. And attack me.

So any negative press arising from this thread is because the posters here can't have a single rational thought in their heads, and would rather lash out at the first moving target. Even if it means justifying behavior that is completely wrong. Even if there are simpler answers and alternatives. Even if it means breeding hate, animosity, distrust, and other negative emotions that everyone is clamoring will somehow infect the current GM staff.

This is on you guys.

You're so pathetic.

These are the kind of posts that get really good people in trouble for no good reason. Please stop before Wyrom and company end up in a two hour meeting with the new owners because they think the player base actually gives a damn about this.

Stop and think about how what you're doing affects others before you do it.

People like Haldrik are why good GMs leave staff. You're an absolute piece of shit in every single word you type anywhere.
99% of staff receive basically no compensation for the obscene amount of work they do for the game. Because they love it. Most get so burnt out on the other side that they don't have the time or ability to play and enjoy it as players. But they ARE still players, so yes, at a venue like SimuCon they should absolutely get the opportunity to bid on an item they want. And what they do with that item is nobody's business but their own, just like anyone who buys anything anywhere ever.

Maybe this will finally be enough to get him labeled as a HMC and on his way out the door.

Whether it's PvP with Nazagor, killing him multiple times (Lvl 100 vs LvL 30), or his obsessive non-step attacks on me. He's bad for the product and is driving people to not enjoy their time in the game.

Kalros fails to realize the entire auction was live streamed to everyone in the internet. I moderated the SimuCon stream chat, there were no complaints from anyone. We even got to bid on some of the items.

The GM's that did bid, didn't take anything away from a player.

One GM for example, took one of the passed over items at the end that nobody else wanted.

Another GM was also out bid by players and lost the item they really wanted.

They couldn't have been more transparent.

*Shrug* Discussing hard stuff is never easy. But Tservin sure made it sound like this is more common then we think. It is worth talking about and it does matter.
