Reuters also reports that Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham has told President Bush he plans to resign but will stay on until a successor is in place.

I'll post this again.. prior to the "Holy shit, everyone h8s Bush because Bush soxors alot"...

Cabinet changes between terms is common. After 4 years of working for the administration, many people seek lucrative employment in the civilian sector or are simply burned out from the stress.

It's normal.

It's too bad Powell resigned. He was an asset.

11-15-2004, 11:31 AM
Powell was a great asset to the administration, but that also doesn't make him irreplaceable.

Of course not... someone has to take over the reigns.

DarkElfVold -- I think there have been narrower margins in other countries, like Guam, for example. GEEZE

It's a shame - Powell was the only one out of that group that I actually respected.

His son, however, I wish would freebase some flesh eating virus.

- Arkans Well, she asked a question. I answered it.

Bush also received the largest number of votes of any presidential election, ever. Guess who received the second largest number of votes of any presidential election, ever ... Anyway, Powell will be missed.

And Brackish. . . I'm sure you're correct but I don't keep up on what's happening in Guam. Maybe you can keep us posted.

No, I'd rather keep up with the republican party, which just OWNED you liberal sissies.

Regardless, I wouldn't see the resignations as doom and gloom. I see it as something expected.

I'd rather not deal with any of those clowns besides occasionally making light fun of their political affiliation if they happen to post their political views... kinda like Lycain, who seems to have all the characteristics of a dog except loyalty.

Does not want to be involved in a peace process in the mid east that may go bad and harm a political career.

Can we say Senator Powell (R) New York?

Somebody needs to get that cunt out of her senate seat. :saint:

Won't happen... not by a Republican. NY is very liberal.

You dont know that, Powell is liked by both sides. I honetly think he could be president if his wife would let him run.

Don't forget, he would be running against "that cunt" as you so delicately put it.

I mean, he could totally run his campaign like, "Vote for me to keep from being represented by a dirty filthy liberal cunt, even though that's who you've voted for and calling her a cunt will probably about ruin my public life .... awww, fuck!"

I'm not a big fan of her either, but we all need to take a step back and realize that people can and will elect the people who they find most agreeable. I just wish we could quit sensationalizing, you know -- Wezas is the liberal monkey douche and PB is the zealous totalitarian nemesis. Everyone has their opinion and most people have good valid reasons for it. We need to start to respectfully disagree.

While I enjoy you referring to me as the totalitarian nemesis.. that isn't what I would consider "respectfully disagreeing".

I'm far from a zealot.. and far from a totalitarian. I have no problem with nemisis though. :)

I realize you are not a zealot, not a totalitarian. Unfortunately some people on these boards think of you as a nemesis because you have a different political view as theirs. Instead of respectfully disagreeing and engaging in meaningful dialogue they tent to just point out how Bush is a totalitarian zealot and that makes you one too. They just point fingers and call names because it's the easiest way to defame someone.

Edited to add: I am not calling Bush a totalitarian zealot -- I am saying some people think of him as such and therefore attribute those same characteristics to you. I think you misread my first post, too.

I seriously doubt Powell will seek political office. He could have done so before now were that the case.

Powell has stated that he will answer the call of the CIC and do his duty. He has also stated that he would withdraw his resignation if asked.

Powell is a moderate and has disagreed with more than one president, but like a good soldier, did what he was ordered to do.

At one time I held some respect for Powell; I'm on the fence now.

Are you bitter because I posted the results of this week's NFL pool and you're 5-8?

No, I am not bitter. I think of you and PB as the two most well-reasoned supporters of your opposing political views and so you two were the best options because I could defend the premise that you could support your own viewpoints with good evidence and argument. Take it as a compliment.

Powell quit because they made him be the bitch and trot out on Meet the Press and explain every fucked up thing Bush did. Because he's black, we're supposed to believe the Bush administration has street cred or something.

And now Condi Rice has his position. So she can be their scapegoat even more then she already has been.

First of all Dhuul, I think the Bush Administration has done a great job of putting minorities into key roles in the Administration... far better than any other President in my opinion. If that gives him "street credit" then he deserves it.

And I believe that Powell and the rest of the Intelligence community believed the information they were giving the UN was credible.

And Wezas, Rice has been the closest confident that Bush has had in this Administration. I think she would make a great Sec. of State.

I'm not saying anything about her ability to serve the office.

Do you deny that she was thrown to the 9/11 commission wolves when Bush & Cheney declined to go on record?

Yes. Sitting Presidents and Vice Presidents decline to speak in front of a Senate Panel ALL the time. This was no exception. They did their parts by granting private meetings to all panel members.
