View Full Version : Mac + Lich + Stormfront?

I'm using a Mac, and currently using a VM of Linux to run StormFront and Lich (albeit in a rather buggy fashion.) I realized that wine can run under Mac OS X (El Capitan), and thought I could remove a step of complication by using wine in OS X to directly run Lich and Stormfront.

I followed the instructions for getting Ruby 2.2 installed using Homebrew, and got wine installed using Homebrew, which can launch Stormfront directly without too much issue. However, when I run Lich, Stormfront starts up and never connects to the game server. The last few lines of the debug log looks like this:

2015-12-22 23:35:35: info: waiting for client to connect...
2015-12-22 23:36:12: info: connected
2015-12-22 23:36:13: info: connecting to game server (storm.gs4.game.play.net:10024)

Any ideas what might be going wrong?

in my experience, os x's new power-saving features put lich to sleep because it's not an active window

click on your terminal icon in the dock a few times and see if that temporarily wakes lich up

That seems to make it move a bit further along, but it runs ridiculously slow (about five minutes to get to "All Rights Reserved" and loading the room description only.)

Is there a way to disable the power-saving feature for lich and/or StormFront? It seems like that's at least starting to make the interface turn over. And any insight onto how to speed up the interface?
