Has anyone used or maybe bought for their kids/someone a drone or quadcopter type thing that you would recommend? My dad is wanting one and I don't really have any useful knowledge of them.

I'm considering something like this Syma X5C (http://www.amazon.com/Syma-Explorers-6-Axis-Quadcopter-Camera/dp/B00MNG37C2/) which seems very reasonably priced, or the UDI U818A (Http://www.amazon.com/UDI-U818A-2-4GHz-RC-Quadcopter/dp/B00D3IN11Q/) which is about twice the price but also seems pretty nice and sturdy.

Thankes.

edit: I forgot to mention that more flight time and less charge time is a big consideration, the camera functionality maybe not as much.

Something like this is what I'm looking at.

My brother just got a cheap one for us to mess around with and get some experience on before we get one of the more expensive ones.

Seemed like the consensus on /r/multicopter (https://www.reddit.com/r/multicopter) was the Hubsan X4 when I looked into it. Nice, forgiving quad that you get started with in doors.

I ended up going with the Syma X5C. Amazon had a deal for the copter + a 4pack of batteries and a 4-battery charger + a set of spare parts/rotors for around $70. We'll see how it turns out.

That's a nice one, but I wouldn't exactly call that entry level or for beginners, given the $3500 price tag.

I very much doubt that the Syma X5C (or even the UDI U818A) weighs more than 250 grams.
