Selling off one of the new "shock lance" scripted weapons. This one is a runestaff and is vibe/earth flare based. It has one minor unlock to decrease the cooldown period from 20 minutes to 10 minutes and had two fluff unlocks, so it is fully fluff unlocked. I might have lightened it, once, also, but I can't be certain. It's 3lbs.

You analyze your gornar-shod runestaff and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions.

The creator has also provided the following information:
* General Alterations are fine if you find an extremely skilled and rare merchant to work with this.
* It CAN have a long or a show description, if the merchant is comfortable adding one.
* The base material CANNOT change and must reference the associated flaring metal.
* Any merchant can lighten this.

Current Cooldown: 10 Minutes
This can be upgraded to have its cooldown reduced to 5 minutes.

Current Critical Strength.
The runestaff is currently set to default range.
This can be unlocked to have an increased minimum range.

Degredation chance
The runestaff currently has a 2%-5% chance to degrade.
This can be upgraded to have its degredation chance reduced to 1%-3%.

Feedback Chance
The runestaff currently has a 5% chance for feedback.
This can be upgraded to have its feedback chance reduced to 3%.

Total Charge Capacity
The runestaff currently can hold 10 charges.
This can be upgraded to have 25 charges.

Repair Difficulty
The runestaff is currently HARD to repair.
This can be upgraded to have a reduced repair difficulty to MEDIUM.

Charge Efficiency
The runestaff is currently a 1 essence to 1 charge ratio.
This can be upgraded to 1:2.

Roundtime
The runestaff currently has a 5 second roundtime.
This can be upgraded to be reduced to 3 seconds.

Total Upgrades: 1
This runestaff can be upgraded 8 more times

You might be able to have a talented merchant lighten the gornar-shod runestaff for you.

You carefully realign some of the springs and adjust some of the segmented tracks within the inner ring of the vise-like clamp on top of the runestaff.

As you wave your gornar-shod runestaff high overhead, a trail of earthen rubble follows closely behind.

You drum your fingers on your gornar-shod runestaff and ready yourself in a guarded stance.

You place your hand against your gornar-shod runestaff, it vibrates slightly.
>rub runestaff
You take a moment to polish your gornar-shod runestaff, it briefly glows a shade of russet brown.
>pull runestaff
You pull your gornar-shod runestaff against your side, readying yourself for your next attack.

Holding your gornar-shod runestaff by the shaft, you thrust it forward in a salute.
>lean runestaff
You lower your gornar-shod runestaff into the ground, leaning against it.
>shake runestaff
You shake your gornar-shod runestaff from side to side, a strange popping noise comes from within the runestaff.

I don't have an example of the shock lance aspect on this weapon, but I did get some fire essences and use my lance the other day, so here is an example of it. I don't know if this is good, bad, norm, or what, but it appears to do same-flare type damage, so I imagine this staff does vibe/earth type. Anyway:

>point my lance at kobold
You point your drakar-tipped lance directly at a kobold and a blazing corona of flames surrounds its drakar tip. With a resounding crackle, a roaring bolt of fire leaps from your drakar-tipped lance and impacts the kobold!
... 30 points of damage!
Extreme heat melts the skin off a kobold's right hand. Gross!
The kobold is stunned!
Roundtime: 5 sec.

Surprised to see this still so low, especially with the reduction unlock. Not sure how often that's going to happen.

apparently some folks disagree on the deal it is.. but fuck them, it's a great project piece.

Only three runestaves at EG got to the tier of 2 fluff and 1 minor unlock that I am aware of.

They were considered a very rare, major service... We had a discussion on Lnet about it during one of the days that followed.

well, I wont claim it's super rare, as I don't know for certain, but it probably isn't common to have 3 services on one of these already.

Couple of thoughts on this...

From the way I understand it, currently after the point and shoot aspect of the runestaff, it has a 10 minute cool down with an eventual maxed out 5 minute cool down. That means during that 5-10 minute period, this is just a 4x vibe flaring runestaff with scripts, right?

While I do think the neat factor and rarity of the item can definitely make it worth 1.5 million (I would have bid 1.5 if I wasn't putting my wizard on hold for awhile), 1.5 does seem a lot for what mechanically seems to be a 4x vibe flaring staff most of the time.

I don't disagree Veikn. It also needs to be repaird from time to time, refilled, and other stuff. It's not even enchantable by normal means which stinks. I bought my fire one for the "new" factor and that it's interesting. I'm also one who was lucky to be around at the right time to get the same stuff as this one unlock-wise.

I saw over a dozen get the minor unlock through various (fun) means, the fluff unlocks were easier and usually entire room (same for t1 unlock) if you had the time so I assume most of that number did the fluff ones too.

I'm not sure about the ratio of polearm to rune staff though. Add me to the list of 3 for the staffs. I think they are a great project piece this should definitely go for more than off the shelf for current work done and with the new enchant spell and likely future unlocking opportunities with several events the next couple months it should make it a nice end product.

Viekn, the next unlock is 2 minutes for cool down. I believe analyze shows this if you are at 2 cool down unlocks.

Soulance, at some point (soon?) these should be enchantable by normal means. The repair and loading can be unlocked or made unnecessary depending what unlock path you choose and the repair is only like a few seconds of rt anyway. Perhaps it can get higher if you let it degrade further (by point shooting alot) but you can do that in town.

Then that's 4 people with 2 fluff, 1 minor unlock... From what I could tell, most services were mostly offering just the fluff unlocks, and rarely the minor unlocks. I know I tried to hand over my staff at a couple merchants offering unlocks, who said they were just doing the fluff ones.

There are two ranks of unlock for each of the 5....6? different things available.

Loading is the -elemental- essence... which is easy enough to pick up at your local alchemist. Something to do when resting.
I'm with Roblar on this one also regarding repairing... it's an annoyance, but you can take care of it when you make it back to town, it's not like you need to take care of it mid-hunt.

It's better than a normal 4x standard-flaring runestaff. I'd argue better than 4x/4xacuity also. Better than fusion? Depends on orbs.

3 ranks per, maybe 4 I forget. It's not intended to ever fully unlock all possibilities but to make a choice.

I am looking forward to what they come out with as far as enchanting - and nervous at the same time. I don't like that I'll have to get water lore ranks, but oh well.

These are definitely going to be a interesting if not fun project and, like you said, can be quite variable because you, so far, cannot unlock every feature. I have yet to even try it out but probably should one of these days.

I got a couple of the double unlocks and there is still another to be had, so at least 3 per.
