I let the Jesusland repost go by, because reposts happen.
The IQ link, however was posted the day after the election, in this thread:

In a similar vein, though admittedly mildly derailing, it seems that the lowest divorce rates in the country are found in the immoral Northeast (with MA, which allows same-sex marriage, having the very lowest) while the Bible Belt has the highest. (http://www.boston.com/news/globe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2004/10/31/walking_the_walk_on_family_values/) What was all that talk about family values again?

IQ = NOTHING, that was proven years ago.

They still give IQ tests, to get into Mensa and The Prometheus society.

In life, application of intelligence matters. Not a MENSA card.

My point was that IQ testing is still an acceptable standard for measuring intellignce. Many firm who are looking for real life application of intelligence use some form of IQ testing, even if they don't call it.

You were very clear. Misunderstanding did not take place.
You attempted to communicate a point without elaborating or even stating your point.

I'd love the name of a firm that would be so stupid to higher its members based upon IQ alone. Einstein as a stock broker? I don't buy it.
As an aside, anyone ever heard of "the giga society"? They are supposed to only accept one in a billion people, although I think they have 7 members now.

What's there to misunderstand? What does this mean then other than to get into those clubs you need to take an IQ test? :?:

Not on IQ alone but many firms use it as a tool.

GM
CIBC Mellon
Royal Bank
Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce

Thus it is still an acceptable standard for measuring intelligence

Nope, because you need more than intelligence to excel in anything. We all know how one person can claim his intelligence is of a great amount and still be the biggest idiot in the world.

True but I don't think you can disregard intelligence. You can have a great work ethic and all the ambition in the world, but if you lack the brains there are certain jobs you just can't obtain.

I'd take an ambitious person with great work ethics with mediocre intelligence over a really intelligent cocky person any day, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Depending on the job I would agree with you. However I would rather have a cocky intelligent person designing nuclear reactors, than a person with a great attitude and mediocre intelligence.
Illinois #9 on the list... sounds about right to me.

The lowest IQ's on that table were also clearly Bush states. I guess it is official the states with the lowest average IQ voted for Bush. :)

What makes this dumb: the dumbest 49% of, say, Ohio could've voted for Kerry (this is in no way meant as a slight against people from Ohio who voted for Kerry, it's a hypothetical) while the smartest 50% voted for Bush. It's not as if everyone in any state voted for any candidate, you know?

this doesn't really prove anything... so a state with an average iq 2 points higher tends to vote for kerry? hows this.... dc, the third lowest 'state' was by far the biggest landslide... 90% kerry

IQ tests are vastly overrated. I can say this why? My major was Psychology and I spent a semester in Psychological Testing class looking at the merits and flaws of various testing methods. Truth is, tests always show a bias. I'm one of those crazy people that feels testing should be done away with as we know it and grading and the like should be based on what the instructor sees and gets from the student. Of course, that has it's bias as well... Anywho, for what it's worth, I believe you'll see a correlation between poverty levls and states that voted for Bush as well... Don't see anyone touting that one do we?

For certain positions that option is not available. You HAVE to have a person with a certain intelligence. You still end up with a mix of jackasses with nasty attitudes and friendly team work oriented people but they're all very intelligent.

I live with myself on a daily basis without a problem.
You however are some sort if ill educated fuck stain, bereft of basic comprehension skills who has not once in any debate backed up a single stance with one fact that I'm aware of. Coupled with the load of bull shit you pile on ... masters degree, dual citizenship ... and the rest of the spewage issued from that aptly named shitter that rests atop your neck.
You are a joke with an internet connection whose only desire is for acceptance and attention.

Tsa'ah your failure to acknowledge the numerous times I have proven my point on these boards doesn’t make it so. As I have stated before you have a problem accepting the obvious.
You must really be insecure to question my education and dual citizenship. There are millions of people who have a Master's degree and I am sure many who hold dual citizenship.
I couldn’t care less about what people in cyber space think of me. You follow my posts around like a lost puppy. You’re always looking for a fight with me. Whatever burr you have up your ass get over it. I would prefer if you paid me no attention at all.
FYI Spewage isn’t a word.

lol, Tsa'ah, with every offense intended, you're so repugnant it's incapable of being totally described with words. He responded with a semi-humorous statement about her major and thinking she knows everything from her psych major (which just about everyone has these days). Then you continue the confrontational attitude you've adopted in every other thread you've followed xtc to. Stop looking for a fight, you're reminding my of Warclaidhm.
Oh ya, and if you could point out certain GMs on power-trips again -- that would be moderately funny and give me a good 2 minutes of seratonin high from laughing at you.

I’m not a frequent visitor to Snopes, but thanks for that link. Oddly, I live right up the street from Harper’s Ferry on the Civil War map. Now I have to Google that and see what the importance of it is. :) Also, it agrees with my theory its just more about population density than anything else. Why is that? Hell if I know. Being a city boy myself, I can say I would have a hard time living without the diversity of city life. And by diversity I mean everything from people to goods and services.
Its also got me thinking of my lineage and where my folks came from AND if that has anything to do with how we view politics and the world in general.
This whole IQ thing is bull, by the way. I remember in high school psychology that IQ tests ARE geared towards one group of people
or another.

The mean for an IQ test is 100 with a standard deviation of 15. No state, no country, or even a city could ever have an average IQ anywhere other than a median range 97-103.

I have proved my point numerous times. I quoted chapter and verse of election law and provided links. I site the Irgun, Moshe Dayan, Menachem Begin, when I talk about Zionist terrorism. I mention the McMahon Agreement when I talk of Arab right to the land. You are really fucking stupid to argue the obvious or you just chose to stick your head up your ass.
