View Full Version : Why Verizon now sucks

So I use Verizon for my cellphone because it happens to be one of the best companies and I almost always have service no matter where I am.

Why am I now going to switch after my contract is up?

Because every month there are charges on my phone that I didn't do. For the past four months they have charged me $5 for downloads that I didn't do, each time saying they'll flag it and make sure it doesn't do it again. Furthermore they just charged me $18 for being over on texts when I hardly texted anyone for the past month. All they say to me? "It looks right to us" So I will pay the additional shit they charged to my account but after this year I am switching to somewhere better.

Ask to speak with a supervisor.

I don't want to seem like a bitch to them but they're trying to claim I sent 1,100 texts within a month where I basically just used my phone as a watch and that was it. Also I have the 1000 text package and on the thing for texts included it says (903) so why was I charged for 97 texts that should've been included? Furthermore they're assholes because they charge you partial months if you add something to your bill so they charged me $8 for adding the 1000 texts on top of the $10 that it costs.

I've never had a problem with t-mobile. Contract has been up for about 6 months and haven't even thought about switching.

Speak to a supervisor, like Parkbandit said, and you'll be able to accomplish amazing things with your bill. Who cares about being a bitch to VerizonWireless?

I agree, go as high up as you need to, and be a super bitch.

I had the same trouble with a company years ago, and I got every penny back, including the cost of the phone and got to keep it.

The greasy wheel gets the grease.

Speaking from knowledge.. I work for their biggest competitor and I deal with this kind of thing frequently (disgruntled customer). If you did not make the calls, text, etc. Then you should not have to pay for it.

I wouldn't necessarily say the "squeaky wheels gets oil", however.. if you're right, then you should complain to a customer care rep, if they won't help you, ask to speak to a supervisor. Be sure to get the sup's name and ID if they have one. Ask when the credit is going to be applied and for how much. If you want to get particularly picky about it, ask for a fax copy of the transactions (after they post the credit). If it has not been applied within 48 hours, then call back and speak to the supervisor, if they do not see any credits pending... go one step further..

Go to a Verizon retail store (if you have one locally) and ask for the name of the District Sales manager for your area. They should be able to help you.

U2U me, if you need more help.

I was bitching to my brother and he said I should call up and say ask how much it would cost to cancel my account and when they start asking why I want to tell them all of this bullshit.

Generally to get out of any wireless contract it runs around $150-175.

No company wants churn... but if you are looking to go to another company <throws in cheesy, used car salesman line> I know a great wireless company who'd love to have ya

Sprint does the same thing. Beware of the cell phone companies! Almost want to switch to one of those damn pay as you go phones. Anyone got one of those?

I use tmobil and have had great service with them. Their customer support is amazing too.

Though I hate to agree with Landon - I also believe that T-mobile is one of the best.

Their plans are pretty kick-ass and they have really good deal on phones. Never had a problem with customer service. Once I accidentally wracked up about $150 in weekend minutes (I forgot I got the cheapest plan that's only night minutes) and called them up and let them know my situation. Told them that I had forgotten that it wasn't weekend. They told me that if I switched to the next plan up ($10 more a month, free nights & weekends, 600 or so minutes) they would knock off the $150.

Now my girl and I are on the family plan and it's pretty kick ass. She gets free picture messages for the first year. So every now and then I get a nice little bonus for checking my phone's mail.

Okay, I'll throw my plug in.. AT&T, now Cingular.. has the largest footprint in the US and has amazing plans, for individuals and families /end of shameless marketing

I use to work for TMobile and while they do have good service here in the east, south.. they have crappy service in the western states.

Each company has their ups and downs, personally, I think Sprint and Nextel have the worst coverage in the US.

I've had no problems with verizon ... actually not true the one problem I had resulted in something somewhat favorable to me and was easily changed. When I came back from Italy I lost my phone charger and since my 2 year plan was up I was entitled to promotional offers on of them being X dollars off for subscribing to a new plan. So I did and used the promotional dollars to get a new phone and signed up for the new plan. Except they didn't process my request for a new plan and sent me the new phone for free anyway.

Heh, I loved the deal I got with my T-Mobile phone. It was supposed to be free after a $100 rebate.... When the girl who was trying to sell it to me said "rebate", I just looked at her like she was crazy and told her no(I've sent in some mail-in rebates that never came back). So, she was like, "Fine, pay me $50 for the phone, and you'll still get the $100 rebate." I took the deal and actually did get the rebate. So, I was actually paid $50 to take that phone.

Yeah, I've had Verizon for over 2 years. Then I called to tell them that I'm going to switch to another service soon (Nextel). My contract is only 2 years. So I ask the chick if I could stop the service soon, the bitch goes, "This November you can stop the service." I'm like, WTF bitch I've had this contract for well over 2 years and in order for me to stop it and not get charged I have to do it in November?! So I told them to fuck themselves and turned it off and now I have Nextel. Little shit like that pisses me off.

Damn, I've never had any problems with Verizon. They always give me what I want. I broke my phone and called up to buy a new one. The guy says, you can pay $2 a month (or something close to that) and if you ever break your phone, you'll get a new one free of charge.

I was like, sounds good to me... so how much am I going to have to pay for a new phone? The guy goes... oh don't worry about it, I'll give you the plan and replace the phone as if you were on that plan, take your pick of these phones..... I got an LG 7000 which was selling for $350-400 on ebay at the time for $2.....

I don't see myself switching ever, as I've never had a single problem with the service, and they always work with me to give me what I want.

Hope your LG works great for you, as they have been known to have coverage and clarity issues. Also, you can pay for the $2.00 per month for warranty exchange however they will not send you a new phone, it will be a refurbished phone aka "like" new phone.

So we called up today again. First guy was absolutely no help and simply said "they were made from your phone". Second guy I got on in a raving mood and said "I WANT PROOF" and what does he say? "We have all the records of text messages and you can have them if you get a court ordered subpoena. And to cancel my account would cost $175.
