(This is for Polearms and Runestaves alike)

OVERVIEW
I'd like to introduce you to a new elemental weapon line. The base concept of the weapon line is
a weapon that can be loaded with elemental essences, and fired at creatures. This script cannot be placed on existing items.
This weapon can be unlocked a lot. There are a plethora of potential upgrades, and each upgrade can be further upgraded. These are not including the fluff unlocks.
These are being sold OTS with base stats, and no upgrades. Each weapon can be upgraded at least 9 times.
They hold the elemental power of the metal they are made out of or adorned with: gornar, zorchar, drakar, or rhimar.
Each weapon off the shelf will be a 4x weapon. These are super awesome-samurai-dragon--ninja-robot amazing-weapons and will be 1.5-2.5 million silvers OTS at EG.
All the messaging is tied to the associated element of the weapon. These will be available OTS for polearms, and runestaves.

The Verb/fluff upgrades are separate and easier to find and receive from me.

At EG I will be offering 1 minor upgrade to one category outside of the special upgrades.
I will also be doing random methods for handing out a small handful of lesser upgrades. This would take one category up to lesser, or a second minor.

PLEASE NOTE: Only ONE minor upgrade will be allowed PER account. You cannot trade these around and get them upgraded. My merchant will be the only one unlocking these.


UPGRADES
Here is a brief list of the potential base upgrades, and an overview of the upgrades.

Cooldown: 20 minutes off the shelf, can be lowered.
Power: The critical intensity of the shot can be increased.
Degradation: Can be upgraded to degrade less.
Feedback: Chance to blast yourself, can be lowered.
Charge Reservoir: You will start off with 10 shots, and this can be increased.
Efficiency: 1 essence per 1 charge, can be upgraded to get more charges per essence.
Repair Difficulty: These can be upgraded to lower the chance of failure when repairing.

Ambient Messaging
Firing Cooldown Reduction (5 to 3 on POINT and RAISE (Major E Wave))
Major Elemental Wave

Fluff Verb Unlocks
These are like any other item, you can get its tier unlocked for more fluffy verbs.
OTS Only contains the ability to POINT it at creatures, PUT in your elemental energies for loading, and FIX to repair it.
After that it is all fluffy fun.

WAVE
As you wave your rhimar lance high overhead, a trail of sparkling snowflakes follows closely behind.

LEAN
You lower your rhimar lance into the ground, leaning against it.

PULL
You pull the haft of your rhimar lance into your side, readying yourself for your next attack.

PUSH
Holding your rhimar lance by the haft and the middle of the spike, you thrust it forward in a salute.

TAP
You drum your fingers on your rhimar lance, and ready yourself in a guarded stance.
You are now in an offensive stance.

TOUCH
You place your hand against your rhimar lance, and it feels cold to the touch.

SHAKE
You shake your rhimar lance from side to side, a strange popping noise comes from within the lance.

RUB
You take a moment to polish your rhimar lance, it briefly glows an icy blue.


MECHANICAL STUFF
POINT!
Faint energies glimmer along the surface of the rhimar lance, but nothing else happens.

Oh, out of power.
WE NEED MORE POWER.

You pick up some essence of water.
PUT water in lance
You place your essence of water against your lance and ice forms along your lance as the essence of water sinks into its surface.
Your feel the energy perfectly flow into your lance.
Roundtime: 3 sec.

FIRE MISSILES!

A second shimmering shard of ice discharges from your rhimar lance directly at a kobold.

Your lance can break, you can fix it bare handed, with springs, or with more associated elemental energies.

You set about inspecting the construction of your lance...
You carefully realign some of the springs and adjust some of the segmented tracks within the inner ring of the vise-like clamp on top of the lance.

It holds the power of the default metal/flare type for regular swings.

You thrust with a rhimar lance at a kobold!
AS: +76 vs DS: +58 with AvD: +35 + d100 roll: +54 = +107
... and hit for 8 points of damage!

You push your finger against your lance, it pulses with a cobalt light.

A trail of ice runs up your arm from your lance, falling off moments later.
Your lance glows an icy blue before returning to normal.
A collection of snowflakes fall from the tip of your lance.

RAISE (Auction)
You raise your lance high overhead, a trail of snowflakes following the tip. You change the lance's direction, slamming the butt end of your lance into the ground.
A wave of icy blue ethereal ripples moves outward from you.
A kobold is buffeted by the icy blue ethereal waves and is knocked to the ground.
... 70 points of damage!
Icy blast deep freezes one perfectly good heart!
The kobold cries out in pain one last time and dies.

Can all of them be loaded with any essence or does gornar require essence of earth, zorchar require essence of air, etc?
Air for Lightning(Zorchar), Water for Ice(Rhimar), Earth for Earth(Gornar), Fire for Fire(Drakar)

Wizard enchantable? They have flares.
Ensorcellable? Yes.
Will there be special raffle/auction versions offered as well? Not at EG.

How do we get "special" upgrades? Auction quality level, and thus, be available at auction quality events.
Can we get all the special upgrades on one weapon? In theory, yes.
Do the special upgrades count against the total number of minor upgrades the weapon can hold? Yes.

When the weapon "breaks" does it make the entire weapon unusable (i.e. can no longer ATTACK with a polearm) or just stops the weapon from using the special ability until fixed? No, it does not break the entire weapon. You can still attack and do your thing.

What is the chance of it to feedback on us and how damaging is that feedback on average? Starts at 5%, and can be lowered to 0%.

On average how many shots do we get before the weapon needs to be repaired OTS? More than 1, less than 100.

How difficult is the base weapon to repair bare handed? With a spring? With an appropriate essence? You will have to find out!

Can we permanently break these if we fail the repair? No

Is the base OTS shot equivalent of a standard flare? You will have to test!

How much of a power increase is each upgrade? Over 9000.

How high can this go? Over 9000.

I read between lines, "at EG" several times. Most restrictions are on a per event basis and the next pay event is in 3 months. Next EG could be different, several pay or free events could offer further opportunities. Seems like a great new script for a project.

Okay, maybe not 9 years, but will take awhile. Really doesn't seem worth it to me and yeah, I'm sure someone will figure out a way to game the system and have a fully unlocked one in < 1 year. Doesn't seem worth it to me, considering most of them are fluff unlocks, but, whatever.

Given how active Retser and how fast you can rip through a room just unlocking things (hell, he could be really awesome and steal Bazzlewyn's staff of room unlocking), I'm not exactly upset about the amount of unlocks these weapons can have. I'm actually kind of excited about getting one and making something into a project.

Now if they'd just release player flaring weapon enchanting... that'd be nice.

The idea is to have a project piece to work on over the years which will eventually result in a near top-tier polearm. Not sure why people are wondering if it is worth it to them. If it isn't worth your time/effort but you still want one, they'll be available via merchant hunters who will put in the work in exchange for silver/trades.

I totally get it... I'm in the pool of people who are upset about Ithzir armor... but at the same time, off the shelf this isn't exactly a crappy weapon. A couple of PP enchants and even without unlocks it's totally viable for a number of my characters. =)

The way I look at it is, you can either put in the work yourself and end up with a mechanically powerful item, or save up/buy silvers and get one that way. Option 1 wasn't always so readily available. Option 2 has always been on the table.

Ithzir has been the harder of the two by far due to unlocks going up tier by tier (except for the one full tree unlock), the dreaded fishhook distribution method, and because the script creator/GM left staff. It also only expanded tiers 2 years ago. Voln script is only 2.5 yr old. I have had several opportunities for both, passing on a ton of Voln chances and selling an Ithzir win. After the tree expansion I got 2 tiers in the last year.

Perhaps I'm just a good little merchant whore. But if you put in the work and go to events, you can get either unlocked, in time. That's what a makes a project!

I think this script is worthy of creating something top end in the long run.

first of all, lol at "only 2.5 years"...oh gemstone timelines.

You are not the norm for merchant services, and you should know that.

The point is, the "cool" part of the unlock system was supposed to be you could get decent, but not obscenely good, items easier. More services offered, need more of them...it smooths out the the distribution curve, when done properly.

The problem is they treat even the low and middle tier unlocks as auction quality that go out like twice a year. So just now instead of needing to win 1 raffle, you need to win 4. And hope the GMs running those services aren't fired/quit and if they do someone actually picks up where they left off.

I understand the frustration, but you said yourself you don't like waiting in lines and would rather play the game. I would argue this IS the game, (ok, one rather large aspect), at least during a festival in which you paid extra to attend. I mean, it is basically an immolate weapon. The alternative of harder to get, multi-tier, degradeable, is for a far smaller amount (but complete) to be released. If you had no line to wait for unlocking of over the counter weapons, you're chances are winning something similar but raffle/auction quality (fully fleshed out) is far less.

At least this way allows a larger set of players to obtain it and work on it, as they are able or can afford.

It also adds content to festivals and events, frees up time for coders to work on other or new stuff (rather than having fully complete or quickly achieved items and needing to create more more more), slows down power creep, and creates wealth for those that do find value and sell later to those who did not see merit in the script or time required.

If an unlocking is important to you and the rules allow (very commonly), you can pay for it. Or get lucky.

I'm sure they will have more events (like Briarmoon), but Duskruin will be back eventually. Ask for unlocks on the officials.

Also, more and more items with the requisite unlocks keep getting made and can be purchased on secondary market. I've seen dozens of T4 Volns made, I'm sure every now and then one will go up (if you don't care as much about needing it to be your own armor/creation which I fully get), so that is another potential avenue.

I count 10 at CCF (as Tier 1 script-adding), 1 at the recent Festival of the Fallen for Voln master raffle, 1 per run of RtCF (so 3). They was also Voln armor slots at 1 or 2 EGs but not bothering to look up how many and what tier, I assume at least 1 T4.

Also the ora heart store item is optional and it is the last year of the upgrades. I mean I wouldn't consider it grinding, if you are going to festival anyway and it takes like 5 minutes to boost a x per day item higher? More like a very nice perk for your annual ticket price.

Pikes were pretty amazing, though not really realistic for GS melee combat. If we wanted to go physics based longbows and crossbows would be a lot more frightening. Thankfully every time somebody attempts to bring physics into GS God kills an Aelotoi.

Here are some possible ways these might be better than just a 4x flaring or wand holding staff...

These have elemental flare in addition to the special shot flare. I believe the only wand holding staff that flares currently are acuity flares.


Power: The critical intensity of the shot can be increased.
Can't really do that with flares or wands



Charge Reservoir: You will start off with 10 shots, and this can be increased.
Efficiency: 1 essence per 1 charge, can be upgraded to get more charges per essence.

I might be wrong, but it sounds like once you upgrade the 20 minute cooldown, that upgrading these two options should allow you to use it fairly often. Plus, you can control when you use the elemental blast vs. just waiting for a random flare to go off.

We'll have to wait and see how it plays out, but I get the impression that unlocks for this might come a lot easier than Voln/Ithizir unlocks. I can only hope.

You may be right. The only thing that will really save them is how available unlocks are. And I don't weekly monthly unlocks. But if you could get all unlocks in 2 years or so, putting in enough time/silvers/work to get them mind you, you might find yourself with a pretty nice weapon. I totally agree with this. In some ways Duskruin has been an improvement. The 6x/6x runestaff is way better than anything I've seen OTS since I got back in game. Having to attune it is a serious PITA but at least it's by actually playing the damn game and not paying large sums for raffle-wins.

Fusion was another example of something off-the-shelf that could be made better by players. So I'm sorry they seem to want to nerf it now, even if I'm not a huge enhancive guy.

Eventually we'll see the BREATHE verb only be accessible by Simucoins, which will coincide with an update that requires characters to BREATHE and EXHALE at least once every 30 seconds. After going 30 seconds without breathing, you'll take damage each round until you either BREATHE or die, similar to the drowning effect that happens when you're underwater for too long, i.e. Darkstone, Nelemar, etc.

There will also be an auto-breathe item made available for Simucoins that will automatically BREATHE and EXHALE for you for 30 days.

Meh, I firmly believe that the community has a rather vocal group of people with an overinflated sense of self-entitlement. We could probably argue for the next year as to why, but the fact remains... it's there. But the Officials are also the best place to voice your opinion and not get offended by the heavily moderated response to it.

Why is it I could have been able make my own list prior to start of this "contest" and came out with an 80% accuracy as to who would have been at the top? I'm not arguing that some of these folks are fine role players, but for some reason they have been the center of attention for...I don't know...decades? I can also go through that list and see that other guru's were either not informed of the contest or just flat out were not watching their communities.

See there seems to be this common thread that connects the dots here, that being, a small group of people are getting their dicks sucked while the majority of the community is footing the bill. This is often the reason given why people leave this game.

I think you are fine person, but you yourself have admitted in the past to getting "special" attention and I know for sure others have by their own admittance. This is what the circling of the wagons is about on the officials and you can't expect a 30 year old text based game to be successful that charges a high premium, then tells the majority to sit down and shut up after their bill has been paid. Until the day comes that the GM's can finely separate their friendships from their position as GM, will the shit come to an end.

This is just another example of many that has me walking away.

I'm kind of confused on this... the only argument I've made here was specifically that DarkCipher was voicing his opinions then turning around and contradicting them. I never discussed the points you've brought up in your post.
