View Full Version : What do you want from your Guild?

I find myself driven by certain short term goals.

Sometimes it's getting to a certain plateau of a training regimen. Other times it's catching up to a higher leveled character so we can hunt together. With most things, I can plan out a path and get there in a reasonable amount of time. With the guild, however, things progress differently. For me, anyway...

I reactivated a few months back. In some ways things feel the same. I hang out in the East Tower. I prod people with my aloof mannerisms and comments. I stab things in the face. Feels just like it did when I was a kid... But now, the halls are a bit quieter. They were never truly busseling when I was skulking about, but there was enough going on to stay stimulated.

I understand things are different now. Priorities may have shifted. But one of the things I want to find out is: who cares about being a Grandmaster?

Who takes pride in gaining each rank? Who looks forward to partner reps as an opportunity to meet someone new or shoot the shit?

I think the guild is a great vehicle to build and grow a community. No one cares about the Cleric's Guild. It's solitary. It's unforgiving, expensive and largely a waste of time. I know because I'm one of the only people who currently trains in it. But Rogues have interesting skills, a unique variety of Guild structures, and game mechanics and drive us to work together. We should work together.

Let me say, I think most people are friendly and interesting to talk to. Most people are helpful when approached. But I don't feel like there's a real sense of community or comradery; I may be wrong, but I haven't found it yet.

One of my goals, other than mastering some skill that makes me kill stuff in a slightly more interesting way, is to work with other people. Meet them. See how they like to play the game. And get some ranks in the process.

What drove me to make an account and post this is, I want to find out if there are any Rogues out there who want any measure or cross-section of what I do? Does anyone want to hang out with other Rogues? Shift about in the shadows to a dark corner somewhere with a bottle of brandy and cigars and plot some illegal activities. Do people take pride in this?

What I propose is simple. Shout out what you want to work on and when you want to work on it (partner rep related stuff, obviously.) If enough people do, it should be straightforward to find someone to work with or someone you want to help out.

I feel like an annoying little brat pestering some Grandmaster to help me get my feet stomped or do some flashy trick a bunch of times. Even if they list the service, there's a lot of goddamn reps to do, and I'm not going to PM someone over LNet every five minutes. We all have our agenda and I respect that.

I may just be talking to myself here, but if people actually care about learning these skills and having a community of villains, scoundrels or classy folk, I'd like to find out. Are you out there?

P.S. I'll be around for every Guild Night I can manage, but I only find a very slight bump in activity. I'd like to build on this.
