I don't even know a damn thing about runestones. Someone tell me what happened here.

With a few quick strokes of your gold-handled brush, you draw the luck rune on the surface of your smooth stone.
Roundtime: 10 sec.
R>l stone
Scrawled on the surface of the stone, you notice a rune that you can not recognize.
R>incant 218
You trace a sign while petitioning the spirits to bestow their aid with the Spirit Servant spell...
Your spell is ready.
You gesture.
Your stone pulsates with a deep glow, then returns to normal.

Taking it from the top with a real runestone, even:

>glance
You glance down to see a marbled granite runestone in your right hand and a thin gold-handled brush in your left hand.
>l brush
The tip of the brush is covered in a rich white ink.
>read rune
There is nothing there to read.
>
You feel more refreshed.
>draw will-o-wisp rune

Okay, guess so re-reading. But I don't think I've ever seen one other than the ones that are in the necklaces.

Did you prep the smooth stone with aish'vrak potion? I'm not sure if this is required for objects that are already called runestones, depends on where it came from I think. I know the alchemist sells already prepped ones. Also, I think you need to cast 218 AT the stone. After the servant is summoned, you can incant 218 to refresh it normally without using the stone.

Yup, I used that potion on the smooth stone. Casting at the runestone did nothing (cast what?). Nothing else, waving or raising or rubbing the runestone with the spell prepped helped either.

It's a swinging empath with no arcane symbols training right now, so that's probably it. Thanks.

Depends on the runestone. You can get prepared ones at guild shops and the fwi alchemist

I believe the runestone also needs to be in your left? hand when you cast 218 (normally, not at the stone iirc). I went through this routine as well trying to keep a consistent spirit servant, and I think it was the left hand thing that fixed my problem. I've also slept since then, so..
