Old mein ring

I have a red mein band that I found on a character I had sitting since AOL. I remember the band doing something cool but for the life of me I absolutely cannot remember what it was. I have had a couple of bards sing to it. The only information they get is this.

You sense a faint aura of magic around the mein band. From the pitch of the vibration you determine that the purpose of the band is as an implement for use by a mage or other spell-user.

I had a wizard cast Elemental Detection on it and said it was imbeddible, yet Loresong doesn't reflect that. I have tried everything I can think of. Anyone know what it does?

Totally unrelated, but if it's mein, doesn't it need to be pre-AOL? I remember buying a shaalk carcanet, or something like that on AOL and getting a vultite one instead.

Yeah, it's all coming back.... They were from the Magick Shoppe I think, maybe the back room catalog? Then they got replaced with something else, maybe those polished pewter pinky rings. I apparently lost backroom access a while back so I can't confirm.
