I know delivering messages is like really old school these days but I was messing around with it tonight to see how fast it could get me to level 2.

The bondsman in Icemule gave me one message and I delivered and got experience and silver and all of that shit. However I have now been waiting about 30 minutes and the bondsman still won't give me another message. Is there a trick to this somehow? Does asking him too often just piss him off and he makes me wait even longer for a new message? Does it depend on how many people are in town or something? Cause it's late at night/early in the morning now and not many people are in. Is it just totally random? Is it broken?

I need answers.

Message delivery worked fine for me in the Landing last month.

What message is he giving you? Is it something like "it hasn't been long enough since your last message" or "I don't have anything for you at the moment"? If the latter, try asking a few more times immediately.

I find it more beneficial to have another character make a shit ton of iron and then just sit your newbie in TSC and turn in iron occasionally.

also, I think F2P accounts are really limited on messages allowed.

Ah, this must be it. It was on a F2P account.

If the latter, try asking a few more times immediately.

I'll try this on a paid account to see if it's just a limitation of a F2P account.

Okay I'm almost positive now that the problem is one of the following:

1) For some reason the Landing clerk hands out messages more often than the Icemule bondsman does.
2) This is bugged in Icemule.

I'm currently testing this on two F2P accounts at the moment, one in Icemule and one in Landing.

When the clerk says:

"I'm really sorry, but I just don't have anything that needs collection right now. Maybe if you come back later I'll have something for you to do."

It means you've waited long enough between delivering messages and are able to get a new message, but apparently a message is randomly generated so one hasn't been generated yet. So just keep asking and you're bound to get one eventually.

However this "eventually" seems to never come in Icemule. My character in Landing has to wait around 5 or 15 seconds before getting a new message. My character in Icemule has been asking every 5 seconds for the past 5 minutes and still hasn't gotten a new message.

Someone ask the GMs on the officials to take a look at the message delivery system in Icemule. It's either intentionally stupid for some odd reason or it's bugged.

Yeah yeah yeah, I'm banned on the officials <insert your laugh here.> Just ask already. We must fix this very important problem!

Icemule raised minimum wage, the clerk can't afford to hire any more runners.
