All existing members as of November 1st, 2004 and all new members thereafter are assigned zero demerit points. All content made by said member thereafter is subject to a series of rules which, if applicable, will increase their violation count. For the sake of this system, to post violating content includes using any aspect of the forums to publish, with the exception of the U2U messenger, content prohibited by any given rule.

After a member has accumulated a violation count of at least 50, that member is given a temporary suspension from the forums for a number of days equal to twice their violation count after which point their violation count will be reduced by half and their suspension extended until a violation count less than 50 is acquired.

Any member who is not suspended from the forums will have their violation count reduced by one every five days to a minimum count of zero.

Upon having a post reported, removed, or edited as a violation by a staff member, a U2U is sent to the member who made the offending post. This post is to include a copy of the violating post and state explicitely the rule which this post is seen to have violated. At this point an administrator reviews the reported post and determines the exact violation count increase to issue to the member. If the member has attained a violation count of 10 or more, the administrator will send a warning to that member and list all violations on record.

Any member may at any time request a complete report of their violations to an administrator.

Upon having a post deemed in violation of forum policy, the following U2U is sent by the staff member who dealt with it.

The following post is in violation of forum policy:

<post contents>

Name of Violation: <name>
Action taken: <Post deleted>|<Post edited>
Comments:

The violation is then looked at by an administrator at which point a U2U is sent which will include the member's total violation count.

If the member acquires a violation count warranting a ban, then that member will instead receive an e-mail informing them of their violation count and the day when their ban will expire.
