I cannot log in to a single character on an account for some unknown reason. I had posted here in another thread, and the error looks stormfront related...but the account has other characters that load just fine on both the same computer and any other computer. The character in question can load fine on any other computer in Stormfront as well as being loaded into Wizard on the computer with the Stormfront related issue.

SO I need to fully remove Lich somehow, to make sure a clean reinstall can occur - in case this is causing the issue.

Running Bootcamp, Windows 7.

Any responses totally appreciated.

1. Run Lich.
2. Click the "Link" tab.
3. Unlink everything you've linked.
4. Close Lich.

Lich is uninstalled. Feel free to delete lich.rbw. Or not.

My first question would be, what is the error? Your screenshot in your other post is so small I can't read it. From my understanding, uninstalling the latest version of Lich is pretty easy. Go to your lich directory and run the lich.rbw file. On the link tab click on the two unlink buttons. Close Lich and delete the lich directory. Download it again, unzip, run lich.rbw, and click on the link buttons. Since it's a single character then you can try deleting your character's data directory in lich. Go to lich\data\ and delete the folder with your character's name. If the issue is Stormfront related then are you storing your settings local or server?

Hmm, thats what I had done to get rid of Lich prior.

The issue I am having is that a single character of many on a single account cannot seem to launch Stormfront properly - no GUI forms. The character is logged in and Lich is running as normal, I can see that Narost launched by the map having popped up as well as see the character in game with other accounts. When I right click the Stormfront icon and manually try to maximize the SF window I get "Critical Error Cannot use storm.skn."

The character works fine on other computers as well as in Wizard on the same computer. It's all very odd

It's almost like your error is not a Lich error at all!

(Lich gets a lot more development attention than any Simu software.)

Since it's with the skin you might try deleting your skin.dat file. No sure if the Stormfront uninstaller deletes the appdata. Try deleting skin.dat at,

C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\StormFront\skin.dat

The skin.dat error is not terribly uncommon, but it's usually fixed by reinstalling Stormfront. I see that you reinstalled Stormfront already, but it might be worth it to try it again. Maybe you have horrible luck and got two bad installs in a row.

Since it only happens on one character and you do manage to log in for a moment, it sounds a whole lot like the Lich bug with storing Stormfront settings on the server. Although, the error message is a new twist. Normally the game just disconnects you, but I suppose being disconnected could cause Stormfront to show this error message in your case.

If that doesn't work, it kind of sounds like you have narost set to autostart. For some people, that has caused the GTK bindings (and Ruby) to crash. It doesn't exactly fit your situation because the error message is different and coming from a Stromfront instead of Ruby. It might not even affect the newer version of the GTK bindings that you're using, but it couldn't hurt to try removing it from the autostart list, if it's there.

Also, does the error also happen if you log in without Lich?

Did not see the response here.

The error message comes up with or without Lich. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything multiple times, renaming the skin file and setting SF to seek it out specifically brought up some new error messages that sound like it is having trouble reading the code for some reason.

It's only on the one computer, for the one character. And that character can get into Wizard just fine on that computer.

I'm going to install Parallels on the laptop this weekend and nuke that partition since I cant get this solved by any means I know of.

The character gets into the game and had no problem staying in the game through SF, I might want to make that clear. It just happens that as the player of that character, I cannot see the game because the window never pops up after the Stormfront Logo is done hovering on my screen. I dont doubt the character could sit in game until he times out. I have to manually end the procedd to close the program, since I dont have access to the window to click the handy little X in the corner.

If you wanted to figure out WHY this is happening the way it's happening I would have no trouble maintaining that partition for the moment and fiddle around with it as directed.

One thing I forgot to mention was to put Stormfront in compatibility mode.
