I know pygmies live in the Philippines still. They're native Aetas. I'm not sure if they're the same thing. They're really short and almost similar to the portrait of that hobbit.

Like this one (http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2005-03/uow-ham030105.php) as well, where various species are thriving in an environment previously unknown. I wish they had more pictures of it available.

Mmm. It would be fascinating to see more of this area. If the Discovery Channel was still what it used to be, I'd be watching for something to come up there. Alas, such is not the case. Still, I'll be watching anyway. Just call me the eternal optimist. :D
