Are there any post-cap empaths regularly hunting the Scatter with success? If so, what do those builds look like? Empaths are just about the only class I haven't heard about hunting up there, and I've never seen a combat log of Empath vs Scatter. Plenty of semis wreck the place, high exp warriors, mages, sorcerers. I'm sure Kaedra is a monster up there. Empaths... empaths are a question mark. I'm not capped yet but am always interested in planning ahead.

Destroyers will be an issue - basically avoid them and hope not to be tackled/warcried. I imagine siphons, cerebralites and masters are pretty squishy to Boneshatter/Wither. Sympathy is a good tool to keep swarms busy, especially the little fetish master dolls that overwhelm you with FoF.

How well can liches be Withered by a max CS build with Voln for the +13 CS Symbol? Their bolt DS is probably overwhelming for an empath, considering mages need to dispel and call wind to bolt them.

I don't have a lot of Scatter experience, but for reference the creatures have Spirit TD around 450 (liches go up to 480 or more), compared to an unenhanced max 508 CS (but presumably anyone hunting there regularly will have a collection of WIS enhancives), the Voln symbol like you mentioned, and about +35 to +40 bonus on Spirit Slayer recasts.

Cerebralites are actually immune to Bone Shatter as they are floating brains without bones, and Wither isn't too effective on them because their critical padding applies on every damage cycle, though it still works if your CS is high enough. Since I don't like wasting 240 on cerebralites I like to lead with a cheap disabling spell to avoid getting dispelled, but maybe with a high end CS it isn't necessary.

What keeps my empath from going in more often is that prone/offensive DS is still too low and it's prohibitively expensive to keep both 140 and 240 running. With some combination of postcap dodge training and more expensive armor/weapons it should become more viable.

That's helpful - thanks a lot. It's good to know what to anticipate in terms of TD. I'm familiar with the creatures and their attack routines/abilities. Dodge training, better gear and more HP (more mana for 140/240) are probably going to put you over the top for the Scatter.

I used to do it with my warpath build, but casting was pretty MEH in there. Basically, the only appeal was that I could heal myself when I undoubtedly got fucked up, if I got away.

I reckon throwing a 230 at a lich will go a long way but that gets mana intensive in a hurry when you're also needing to run Slayer.

The Scatter is a motherfucker but that's what I want to hunt there.

I only hunt the North Scatter so far...haven't tried going up against a lich yet.

Destroyers - run
Cerebalites - Empathic Assault is my go-to here. I get 4 CS waves, so either a Fire Spirit or an additional cast will take care of it.
Fetish Masters - Wither. If TD is too high, either 230 or 240. If they summon the dolls, I usually just run. I should try 1120 though.
Siphons - Fire spirit stuns them really well. 3 casts and they're toast.

I'll try to take down a lich one of these days...

Speaking of scatter - i have a phylactery question. Liches arent hard to kill, but as a sorcerer without haste, how do you destroy the phylactery? Do they take only physical damage? Ill kill liches if/when i need to , but have never benefited from the loot because of this.

you don't go alone, so your hunting partner and yourself can slam the phylactery asap

Im a far worse group hunter than solo hunter. I invariably get people killed if I try to wait, allow them to get a shot in, etc. Tactics change and its just more difficult for me. I guess Ill live without that sweet lich loot.

You can bash the phylacteries with a runestaff. If you're solo and not hasted, you just have to accept that sometimes you're not going to get them bashed in time, and you may have to make a tactical retreat. I hunt them occasionally, but they aren't easy for a square.

Sounds like a good reason to use haste imbeds.
