how decent is a halfling or burg gnome as a THW warrior? Or is there literally no reason to be anything other than a dwarf as a warrior..besides roleplay

Giantman for warriors seems like a nice fit.

That's off-topic, though.

I would say they aren't as shitty as they used to be if you're willing to shell out money for those encumbrance reducing items from the Simucoin store. I'd also try to line up some very light armor before getting started, just as a quality of life benefit.

The low HP would also be a drag as you could start seeing DS/AS loss due to bloodloss after a few knicks, even in plate.

yes. I am stuck between Giantman or dwarf. I saw that 8x plate for sale for halflings so it made me think of them, but seems like those low HP will SUCCKkkkkkk.

The TD/magickal bonuses that a dwarf gets are pretty damn nice since spells are such a killer vs squares. I plan on going CoL since GoS is a pain in the ass to keep the sigils up

basically, I am rerolling my 69 wizard into something that will use my coraesine Greatsword. so it is between rerolling into a paladin or warrior and either giantman or dwarf. this would be a character taken to lvl 100

I'd go dwarf unless you really like the RP angle of a halfling or gnome, as you said.

Not sure if agi/dex is a factor with swinging a greatsword for you, will be slow with the non elven races. I suppose you can get enhancives, though.

I always liked Elves over the other races. I could play a horrible racist and nobody would care.

We'd care if you weren't horribly racist, actually.

Don't see many capped halfling warriors. Would be pretty cool if you ask me.

Right? Gotta live up to the expectations.

Particularly swinging a coraesine greatsword.

Seems to work really well for Sam. Then again he probably has like a billion dollars worth of gear on.

There's Cman Toughness if you're worried about health points... stock up on black crystals... you'll be fast with high agidex, use it to your advantage...

I'm not sure there's any combination of race/profession that you can't make work to cap. Some are more challenging than others, but that's part of the fun for alot of people.

Good luck!

Not to derail but.. every race seems to have some kind of mechanical advantage except humans it seems.

The agidex of the little guys would be the mechanical perk. You'd enjoy it right out of the character creation screen assuming stats set for growth... but you'd really need some hefty MOC to really put it to use later in life.

Dwarf for life.

To my mind, halflings are second only to elves in terms of suitability to play a poor arm warrior. I only give the edge to elves because they can aim for the head/eyes of most standing targets. The rt requirements for thw are a little more lax than aiming a lance, but that just means a six second ambush that much sooner in life. Trading a few as points for seconds per swing is a deal I would always make.

Couple the speed of a halflings with the TD boost and you really have something special. I don't know enough about Gomes to comment.

Based on the character you said you wanted to reroll, I would choose halfling.

You are rerolling a character that has pimp gear so you might as well go whole hog. You will be getting some bonuses that the dwarf can't get easily or cheaply. Namely +10TD for elementals and +5 for sorcerers. So from a purely cost/mechanics perspective getting a higher strength bonus through enhancives is probably going to be cheaper than replacing the +TD. This is if you look long term and post cap. Free TD for a warrior is always good. The downside to that is you will probably need to pimp out the str enhancives as soon as possible.

So then you have a long term cost of upkeep associated.

So if you don't want that and plan to shoot for something to level 50, the dwarf would be the better choice. I don't think you would need anything but a few cheap agi enhancives to get that RT down. The dwarf gets a majority of the abilities that the halfling does.

The one thing of course to consider is being either race you will have a harder time aiming for the head without setup. So I would take that into consideration, but you aren't poor by any means so always having ewave bracelets/anklets shouldn't be a problem.

I think it just depends on how much time and money you are going to sink into him.

Go burghal gnome. Everybody's doing it!

I am the halfling with the armor for sale. I run toughness to help with hp and when I used spear/shield was able to eye poke a lot of things without knocking them down. Encumbrance with that armor isnt really an issue. At 22 lbs and armor support you can carry quite a bit. I dont even use surge of strength.

*EDIT* At 50, Kips hunts Eidolons in Bonespear and they have to roll something like a 90 to hit me with only Symbol of Protection.

The largest downside, imo, is ambushing heads if that's something you do. I just started training more MoC and using my sexy agidex to cut down the RT on that a bunch.

My claihd swinging gnome is only mid 30s but so far he's kicking lots of ass.

what kind of RT do you get?

SpiffyJr

With stats set for growth you get 53 agidex at 40 something as a halfling iirc.

I started with 58 in both dex and agi and I was swinging in 5 seconds in just a few levels.
