Making a Font

I'm wandering around Google for this and have found a couple possibilities but I thought I'd ask: has anyone made a font before? What's the easiest way to go about it? I'm making the letters on the computer if it matters.

So here's the best way I found.

1. Make one image file for each letter, number, or symbol you want in your font.
2. If you can make them .SVG, great. If not, use http://www.online-convert.com/
3. Upload all your .SVGs to http://www.fontastic.me/
4. Make the font there.
