I saw the order today.
The subject line tells how I felt about the movie.

The Warriors.

The Lord of the Rings.

Phone Booth.

Every other movie should be shot between the eyes.

Depends on what you view as a good movie...the last GOOD movie..I mean one that I actually ENJOYED watching, and told others to try out..hrm..

I really liked Enemy At The Gates..but then I love war movies (though Gods and Generals was SO horribly slow..ugh..)

My god..Bob and I agree on something..Phone Booth was a decent movie, but not one I went telling friends about.

I liked The Transporter too..that doorbell part was so damn funny..but it fell under the same catagory as Phone Booth for me.

Freddy vs Jason was pretty good.. the only way it could have been better i think is if Jason drug the cast of 2 Fast 2 Furious into the lake with him...

and maybe the people making the Legally Blonde movies......

ok i'm done..

and keanu reeves..

no seriously im done now, i'll stop....

and klaive...

Trinitis
09-06-2003, 08:20 PM
I'd add bob to that list..but if Jason got ahold of bob, he would correctly spell all of Jason's gurgling..and cause jason to get confused and fall into the lake.

I really like the Lord of the Ring, movies for some reason ... and I'm surprised I loved the HP movies too, I mean I REALLY loved these movies! But I think better movies should come out, maybe a combination of different movies in one ... such as the plot of LOTR ... mixed with legally blonde chicks, that'd be funny ... but Matrix was pretty good

Acutally..smeigal is a horrible char in the book. He plots the muder of poor little halflings the entire time. Though, I must admit..he was a huge laugh during the MTV Movie awards..that was the best.

Well now that it's established that none of you have actually READ any of the tolkien trilogy...

It's Smeagol...and it'd hard to miss, as it's the title of one of the chapters in the Two Towers.

Although the movie is way above any other that I've seen recently...I have to say, the book is much better.

Kinda like the difference between Everquest and Gemstone. The never-ending debate between Graphical and Text-based.

Betheny

Personally, I agree with Halfsilver. The LOTR books are by far better.

HOWEVER...

I like the movies as they are. They left a lot out, yes. They added things, yes. But I'm sorry, as much as I love LOTR... I wouldn't want to sit there and watch them walk for 3 months... nor would I want to have to sort through all sorts of characters that make cameo appearances.

For instance, I'm glad they capitalized on Haldir. I like Haldir. I'm pissed he's dead.

I think it's pretty stupid that Arwen has taken the place of the elf-lord, and I forget his name, but it's inconsequential anyway.

I hate how they made Faramir a bastard, but I find that I hate myself EVERY TIME I watch The Two Towers... because I like Smeagol/Gollum.

Dragon Lance is far superior to LOTR.

Halfsilver

I read dragonlance when I was like 12 years old. I outgrew them. They just don't have enough substance to satisfy me.

Robert Jordan's WOT series is excellent. I've finished every book and am waiting for the next in the series to come out.

However, LOTR is the base for all of these books, and is the best of all of them, no contest.

Jordan: First four books were wonderful and then he started to slip, finally picked up some in the last one.

Favorite Book: Elizabeth Moon's -Deed of Paksenarrian.

Good movies I've seen in the last year or three...

Memento - Came out a while ago, but I had to put it in. Great concept, great film technique.

Undercover Brother - Over the top. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.

Jackass - Stupid as shit, but the audience in the theatre was roaring.

Twin Towers, Lord of the Rings II - Major motion picture. Grand scale. Like a watered down version of the book, but just majorly filmed.

Adaptation - I love the quirkly stuff. Nicolas Cage is cool. I liked the orchid chase part of it with Meryl Streep and that bummy guy.

Blade II - A sequal that was actually better than the original. And the original rocked so hard.

Spirited Away - Animation genius. Some people do go for this kind of stuff, but Disney bought it, and for a good reason. Its just magic.

Amelie - Ok, so I may have a crush on Audrey Tautou, but its such a lovely story... and the director and art designer gave a georgeous visual feast. This has to be one of my all time favs.

Brotherhood of the Wolf - Another French movie! If you like GS, you'll like this flick. Its much more than just action. And the action is awesome.

I thought the LOTR movie's were good so far but the books are far more interesting. I loved the way the Ents looked in the movie but they seemed weak throwing rocks during their war at Isengar. I would have like to have at least seen Tom Bombadil in the movie. I guess you can't put every detail and person in each three hours movie per book.
My husband bought me the dragon lance series but I have not read any of them yet. He swears that they are far more interesting.
Oh, another author that I really like is Dan Brown.
Ok, I am done rambling.

OK I admit I only got 7/8 through the first book of the LOTR trilogy. I like gave up because the book was like mostly boring the whole time but the end I could read half a page and I fell asleep. I liked the Tom (I guess that's his name) guy. The singing one. Whatever. I wish that whole scene was in the movie. He woulda been funny.

Harry Potter - Yes. I got the fith book the day it came out thanks to Barnes and Noble.com. It took me like 5 bloody weeks to finish it though.

Wheel of Time - The first few books were good.. it slowed down towards the end.. the last book sucked. So hard. It was like... a bunch of nothing. Very little happens, and it's like 1000 pages long. Gag me.

I got a Dragonlance book from one of my mom's boyfriends... it was like The Chronicles or something. I enjoyed it immensely. Though i then realized where all the Tazzelhof, Tazzelhoffe, etc. names in GS came from. I then gagged. I like the true D&D style the books are written in though. And Raislin (sp?) was an awesome character, I thought.

I think that covers it all.

A good if not new movie is Swingers.

"You're so money baby"

Just saw that again last night it it is going to have to be one of those I buy, just kills me every time.

Enemy at the gates -yeah fantastic.

LOTR has been a great series so far I so happy with how its been done. Is it perfect? Of course not, but it could have been SO so bad and it sure isnt.

I thought Phone Booth was really really bad. Good acting just a horrible premise and poorly thought through.

Head of state: Ok, how does posiibly the funniest man in america make a stinker like this? Just painfully bad.

Jackass: did make me laugh

Hmm, all I can think of at the moment.

DragonLance got me started with science fiction/fantasy books. I have a ton of the spin-off books by different authors...they're not all too good. The original 5 are really good, and atleast worth looking at.

As for movies, I'm holding out hope that Episode III will be OK. There should be lots of killing in it, which is a plus.

ROTK should be really good, but I hope they don't cut out the scourging of the shire.
