Monk Archer?

Hi guys, just wanted to get your thoughts. I'd like to give archery a try and I'm debating on going ranger or monk. As an open archer, would going monk be a ridiculous choice? They just seem like they'd be a pretty fun choice, but I'm not sure if brawling and archery would at all compliment one another at all. I was thinking the following as a training route:

2x CM
2x Ranged
2x Brawl
2x Ambush
2x PT
3x Dodge
1x Mental Lore Transformation
2x Perception

With 3x dodge, awesome evasion, meditation resists, some redux, and decent armor from the transformation lore I'd think that that would make for a pretty good open archer, no? Other than the TD issues, of course. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm new to both brawling and ranged.

You can't disarm a bow user, I thought. Because the weapon is in the left hand, not the right.

if there is nothing in your right hand they will disarm your left hand. So your bow won't get disarmed if you're always holding an arrow... which is VERY unlikely, cause yanno you fire them. =p

Ooooh, they must have changed it at some point. I distinctively remember archers being unhindered by disarm at some point.

I've had my bow disarmed many times by spectral defenders in Nelemar. =p

Monks are a solid choice for open archery. I would drop the 2x brawl and go with 3x PF.

arguably the most effective training path for a monk...be a shitty Ranger :D

Spiffy did this with his monk, had good results. But again, you're just a shitty ranger. You can pick up one of the defensive martials (slippery mind, inner focus, etc.) and not be "losing" out on krynch so, that's kinda nice i guess.

full 1x transform might be overkill...honestly i'm rarely hit as is with 2x dodge and your ranged DS should be higher than mine as UAC. You get she benefit to the meditate but meh.

I have a capped monk that is an open range and rarely gets hurt by physical. He is 3x in dodge and PF and wears robes. Disarm hurts along with some spells, but it is quite a viable option.

I had decent results as a 60'ish Monk then I converted back to Ranger and did even better...
