I am trying to help a returning ranger who is playing a two handed weapon user. Can someone point me in the general direction of a build for two handed rangers? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming he's ambushing from hiding. If not, you can cut back on ambushing and hiding.

Core:
Armor Use 1x until satisfied (30 for brig, 80 for hauberk)
THW 2x
Combat Maneuvers 1x
Ambush 1x
Physical Fitness 1-2x (Depending on Society)
Dodging 1x
Stalking and Hiding 1x
Perception 1x
Harness Power 1x
Spell Research 1x

As needed/wanted:
Climbing/Swimming
Survival/First Aid
Spirit Mana Control

Dwarf THW Ambushing from hiding... you're gonna have a bad time. I'd recommend taking a more open route... getting MOC training, Hauberk, etc.

Max Dwarf RT reduction is 3, at max DEXAGL of 45. Claids, Battle Axes, and Two Handed Swords all have have 8 Base, 5 minimum. So you'll be looking at using a Maul, War Mattock, Flamberge, Flail, or Military Pick with base RT of 7, minimum of 5. Mauls are solid weapons. No big complaints there.
But then when we add in ambushing, that's another +3 seconds, 2 of which are negatable through DEXAGL. So, even if you're using a maul, you're looking at swinging at 10 seconds, with a potential minimum of 6 seconds... but being a dwarf, that's limited to a 7s RT.

So, if you're looking for a more open build, let me know, but I'd rather just confirm it before I continue onward!

First id like to thank Sharnath for the post.

Second Id like to thank Chris at Simutronics for giving me a stat and skill fix upon my return and thank you all for your help/posts allowing me to get right back into the action.

As for my Ranger, I am swing a Dwarven Battle axe, wearing Dwarven chain mail and my goal is to be a limb chopper. I will not be stalking/hiding.
I actually have a Dwarven helm too but not sure if I want to use that later on as well.

Here is where you guess my race, You Win! if you guessed Halfling your right...Haha joking

Anyway, I was thinking (to bring me current to 39)

Armor Use 40 Ranks(70Max)
THW 78 Ranks(2x)
Combat Maneuvers 60(1.5x)
Ambush 39 Ranks(1x)
Physical Fitness 39(1x)
Dodging 39(1x)
Perception 39(1x)
Harness Power 39(1x)

Ranger Base 16 Ranks (not sure how high I want to go)
Minor Spiritual 3 Ranks (not sure how high I want to go)

Climbing/Swimming 5 Ranks(20Max)
Survival/First Aid 39(1X)
Spirit Mana Control 39(1x)

Also could use some help re-stating too looking for suggestions.

Here are my beginning stats, (Info Start)

Strength (STR): 70
Constitution (CON): 71
Dexterity (DEX): 68
Agility (AGI): 74
Discipline (DIS): 75
Aura (AUR): 70
Logic (LOG): 72
Intuition (INT): 70
Wisdom (WIS): 70
Influence (INF): 20

Again thanks for all your help!

You don't really need that much spirit mana control, but otherwise I see no issues with your training plan.

If you have extra points, you might want to look into early investment in lores after you've hit your climbing/swimming and armor goals.

I've done stats for a Dwarf ranger optimized for cap with playability in mind. Will end up with 100 in every stat except for Influence (which ends at 52). There is some weighting given to Dexterity and Intuition (Prime stats for extra tps), Logic (I like me some experience absorption), and Strength (For AS or Ranged RT) so these four stats will cap in between levels 80-90. If you want to pull up the capped influence stat even further, you can steal points from these stats.

Str: 57
Con: 62
Dex: 68
Agl: 82
Dis: 68
Aur: 82
Log: 85
Int: 67
Wis: 59
Inf: 30

I'd suggest lowering your combat maneuvers down to 1x and put those points towards ranger ranks. For rangers you often don't need to have a high AS to hit things because you can use things like tangleweed, call swarm, sounds, and camo. Even without any training in s/h you can cast tangleweed from offensive to stun/prone your target, cast camo, then smash them in the face. More ranger ranks makes your spells more effective and you also want to get 640 as soon as you can.

Without reducing CM I actually had enough MTP points left over to take my Ranger base to 635 I am also close to level I think I can make up the difference in a level or too.

After getting 640, you'll probably want to take MnS up to 120 or 130 if you want to be able to fog, when that is done train more ranger ranks. As you are hunting from the open another thing to get would be 25 ranks or more of MoC if you have the points for it. You can stop ambush at 40 ranks unless your plan is to use camo a lot.
