"Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told. Think about it, religion has actually convinced people that there's an INVISIBLE MAN...LIVING IN THE SKY...who watches every thing you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten special things that he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish where he will send to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry for ever and ever 'til the end of time...but he loves you."
"I want you to know, when it comes to believing in god- I really tried. I really really tried. I tried to believe that there is a god who created each one of us in his own image and likeness, loves us very much and keeps a close eye on things. I really tried to believe that, but I gotta tell you, the longer you live, the more you look around, the more you realize...something is FUCKED-UP. Something is WRONG here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is NOT good work. If this is the best god can do, I am NOT impressed. Results like these do not belong on the resume of a supreme being. This is the kind of shit you'd expect from an office temp with a bad attitude. And just between you and me, in any decently run universe, this guy would have been out on his all-powerful-ass a long time ago. "

George Carlin is easily the most entertaining, bitter, sardonic comic out there.

I must've heard it at least a dozen times... but when I read it to myself I could hear his voice and it still makes me laugh.

Carlin does the bitter old man bit very well. I'm a big fan of his...
but David Cross blows him away as far as religious cyncism (sp?).

George Carlin is, to me, one of the most natural funny-men around. The things he makes jokes about are things that we've all noticed, at one time or another, but we don't have the ability to deliver them with as big a dose of hilarity as he does. He cracks me up!

Same here. I kept hearing his gruff voice and that makes it so much funnier.

Eddie Izzard is good stuff too. Nothing quite like a transvestite comedian.

I always thought PB was Carlin.
I saw Mitch Hedberg and Stephen Lynch this weekend. Lynch is brilliant.

Stephen Lynch is the man! I have been a fan of his since I was very young, good call there.
Definitely enjoyed that post PB, I remember that little rant well. The sadder thing is, people just rationalize that as some sort of "plan" and that in the end, it will all equal out somehow. God=All knowing, all seeing, loving, and oh, has male genitalia apparently.[how else do we distinguish he's a he?]
Carlin is one of my favorite old school comics right up there with Richard Pryor. PB don’t hate me for this.
George Carlin on Bush War (http://www.conspiracyplanet.com/channel.cfm?channelid=104&contentid=554&page=1).
Rockets and Penises in the Persian Gulf
History Lesson I'd like to talk a little about that 'war' we had in the Persian Gulf. Remember that? The big war in the Persian Gulf? Lemme tell you what was goin' on.
Naturally, you can forget all that entertaining fiction about having to defend the model democracy those lucky Kuwaitis get to live under. And for the moment you can also put aside the very real, periodic need Americans have for testing their new weapons on human flesh. And also, just for the fun of it, let's ignore George Bush Sr.'s obligation to protect the oil interests of his family and friends. There was another, much more important, consideration at work. Here's what really happened.
Dropping a Load for Uncle Sam.
The simple fact is that America was long overdue to drop high explosives on helpless civilians; people who have no argument with us whatsoever. After all, it had been awhile, and the hunger gnaws. Remember that's our specialty: picking on countries that have marginally effective air forces.
Article (http://edition.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/books/10/28/george.carlin/index.html) at CNN about Carlin’s new book, “When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops?”

Its somewhat humerous (the orginal post), but I don't agree with it.
