Research: Divine Strike Critical Rank Outcome

Update: I'm now beginning to think most Direct Damage spells work like this!

Preliminary analysis suggests the critical rank for Divine Strike is calculated very similarly to AS/DS resolutions:



outcome_margin = outcome - 100;
df = 0.5;
target_crit_divisor = X;
target_crit_padding = Y;
raw_damage = (outcome_margin * df).round;
mod_damage = raw_damage - target_crit_padding;
crit_ubound = (mod_damage / target_crit_divisor).to_i;
crit_lbound = (crit_ubound / 2).round;
crit_rank = rand(crit_lbound..crit_ubound);


Confounding Variables:
I had initially thought the target_crit_padding would be something like this:


if target_crit_padding > 6 then
rand(6..target_crit_padding);
else
target_crit_padding;
end;



However, after having read the post by Warden, Divine Strike is classified as a Direct Damage spell [1]. Critical Padding for Direct Damage spells is calculated differently given the wording of the post.

Crusade is a flare effect and lore only increases the flare frequency. It's entirely different than Divine Strike other than the two sharing the same religion critical damage type.

Also, I think Crusade is awful unless you're in a large party of characters that use AS/DS resolutions.

Crusade also adds heavy damage weighting. Blessing lores increases the amount of weighting but no one seems to know how much is gained with x amount of ranks.

I don't know how much damage weighting blessing lore offeres, but it doesn't appear to be much at all. Not that it really matters because damage weighting is extra awful.

Crusade just isn't very good except for the circumstances I mentioned previously.

I think crusade is astounding only because it actually effects bolt spells and associated cast variations therein.

HDW is nice for littler weapons, superfluous for heavier bases.

The flare is awesome for anyone.
