Despite not announcing a set price or release date, a lot of new information for the CV1 model of the Rift was released yesterday. Oculus has partnered with Microsoft and will sell the device with an Xbox 1 controller with wireless adapter. The CV1 will also have integrated audio, however the headphones will be removable if you wish to make use of your own equipment. Finally, a prototype VR input solution was revealed which will be available at some point after launch, but didn't seem to be packaged with the initial product. It is widely expected that specifics on issues such as price, release date, launch titles and more will be revealed at E3.

If that's some sort of sexual reference, I definitely think we need to get Silvean's eye in there to see what you're up to.

This is the most comprehensive article i've read to date describing the origins and development of the Oculus Rift. It's a great read for anyone interested in the current state of the AR/VR industry.

Pre-orders are open. $600 dollars before tax and shipping.

I ended up paying $666 dollars. Very odd.

There's a list of all 30 launch titles for the Rift.

The first of the pre-orders should be shipping out on/around the 28th of this month.

In other news, PlayStation VR will cost 400 dollars and will be available October of this year. It is being sold without the camera and motion controllers, which are 50 dollars each respectively. The PSVR will launch with 50 titles, including a VR version of Star Wars: Battlefront. You'll also be able to play all of your PS4 games using the PSVR as a mounted display, which is a feature that will be available for the Oculus and the HTC Vive as well.

The Vive will cost $800, but will ship with motion controllers, unlike the Oculus Rift. Pre-orders are open, the first of which will begin shipping at/around April 5th.

I picked up the Samsung VR Headset for $100 for my Galaxy Note 5. It's no joke.

Downloads are horrendous. VR programs will eat up your download limits and your drive space.

Still, we are finally seeing what we've been dreaming about for the last 20 years. Thats neato.

HARDCORE HENRY

Saw the previews for this when I went to see Deadpool (which was way over hyped by the way) and was sold on seeing it first run in the theaters. VR headset? Mind blown!

Yeah, I actually enjoy my Samsung VR.

I managed to get 2 for on Saturday, booted up the Netflix app and enjoyed it since alot of times my woman is hogging up the TV with her silly shows on Netflix like Supernatural.

Now I can watch shit, in VR, in bed like a boss. Definitely makes me more interested now in the Oculus having finally witnessing first hand some decent VR.

I'm jealous of you Samsung users. Apple needs to get off their ass and make an overpriced VR headset for their phones.

I used to jam mine in the vcr; that thing worked pretty good. But nowadays what with the dvds and everything, just not the same.

I am still baffled as to why this is considered "VR". I mean.. it's a screen 3 inches from your eyeballs.

Same way those things with wheels are called hoverboards. We are lazy as fuck and we want the future now.
