Just curious as to what is required if I want to reactivate an old character. Is it even possible that my original character from 1997 would still be in the system and if all I had was the character name, could they grant me access to it?

You'd need the Pin, most likely.

Call billing. They should have it. You'll need the original account name the character was on, the password, and the answer to the security question. Billing is very helpful.

If it was an AOL character or something, none of that would matter because it wouldn't have been a web based character yet. You'd need the pin.

Care to elaborate on what you needed? I would love to get my AOL character back.

I just recently restored one of my old characters from 1997 or 1998. It definitely was not GS4 converted, as it gave me 5 free fixstats for 30 days upon activating.

Needless to say, the character was on a long deceased AOL account, and to make matters worse I had no idea what my secret answer was either. I thought all hope was lost, but billing was very helpful and was able to ask me enough questions to deduce that I was the original account holder and gave me access to transfer my old character. I was pretty happy with how it worked out.

I still had the U.N. and P.W. on one account. The other I had the UN and email...I had to call Simu

Thanks for the advice everyone. And holy crap it worked. All I needed was the character name and the answer to the security question. The name is awful, Aboodabi Gahlima, but he's got an old weighted opaque vultite falchion, the spider charms Simu gave to everyone years ago, and some other stuff. Haven't even checked the locker or bank account yet, but so far it definitely seems worth it to have reactivated him.
