Given Putin's actions lately, it's entirely possible that could actually lead to war. I mean, more war than the minor Ukrainian squabbles.

Russia losing the WC would have to happen in a hurry, by early 2016 at the latest*, and I don't know if FIFA will have elected a new president by then. It's not going to happen while Blatter is still president of FIFA.

*If you're wondering why does it have to been that early, WC qualifying will start in 2016, and the host country gets to skip qualifying.
