I was online when the 1st run of the Juggernaut showed up and nobody knew WTF the rumbling beneath the ground was

Probably back in '96 or so, while dead getting dragged from TSC into a warehouse. Apparently the dragger had collected quite a few corpses in the warehouse. I can only assume he was collecting bodies waiting for people to rot, so he could get their stuff. Most of the other deaders in the warehouse didnt realize what was going on, and they were like "need a rez!", "need healing", etc.

That happened to me. Some idiot named "Hackattack" killed me near the boulder, then dragged me to the warehouse. One other body was already there. I think a cleric ended up walking into the warehouse a few minutes later - someone must have told him what was happening.

The temporary alliance made between the landing and an army of trolls to fight a huge undead horde. Forget the exact date, maybe sometime in 1996 or 1997.

Bregandian invasion, totes. Walking around coastal cliffs with Mxenna blasting bregs. Got my first ever long-description alteration done at some merchant who decided to pop a tent right in the middle of the war zone. That whole period was just fun...Bregs getting on our thought net, lot of shit-talking...it was an occupation, probably pretty tough on a lot of players just wanting to go about their normal business...but it was engaging and SEEMED like it had a purpose, more so than most current attempts in recent memory.

Besides that, two others I was personally pretty involved with...the storyline involving the Krolvin and the Reivers, with the crazy Witch that branded my forehead (on Teclys), and the much later one involving the Mayor of Landing that went down on a boat in RR...my rogue Valgren was an RR local at the time, eventually found the Mayor's body and blah blah...

Back during AOL days when it was a per hour charge, I got my character, a cleric, to 12. I was so excited to raise someone I didn't pay attention to my own spirit. I didn't have enough spirit AND I didn't have any deeds. Instadeath/decay/demonic. So much time and money wasted. I was floored and never so pissed off at a game before. I was hooked.

I loved when the grey orc area had a "stuck" node, basically you would cast 418 in one certain room after every game reset and it would become a permanode until the next reset. Creatures who went east could not exit NE (not sure why) nor come back into the node room. Huge buildup. Legends (50+ at the time) were at risk of dying, decaying, and losing all their gear there to a level 10 creature.

And that was so cruel because I played on Prodigy and still had to pay them! I eventually re-rolled on AOL to get unlimited. Gads, I loved that roller, rolled for hours to get a good set of stats.

Oh man, the roller! I remember that. Hours....and hours...and hours.... I spent more time figuring out the best stats than I did on all my homework for the year. Each time I'd get a good roll I sat there and debated for awhile...should I keep trying? NO WHAMMY! I'M GONNA GO FOR IT!

A couple of my favourites are:

1) The opening of Icemule, I was one of the few who had put a lot of ranks into climbing so I used to trek up to pinefar when I was barely a Lord and buy as many cigars as I could carry then travel back to the landing with my friend and sell them for 10x the price! It felt amazing.... Just like printing money! I think that there was a massive invasion in WL of the rift critters too which was pretty impressive, almost everyone was massacred.
2) An invasion when there was a massive troll queen, I can't remember all that much about it but I can remember it was hitting for 800AS or so which just seemed absurd at the time. If anyone has a log from that invasion let me know!
3) Spending days on end hunting silverback orcs, I can remember they were so rich for a period but I seemed to be the only one hunting them and I loved it.
4) The Juggernaut and spitfire were pretty exciting too.
5) The excitement when VO and EN opened up too and trains of people charged down to find the new areas.

I remember one of the first times I was hunting squirrels a wind witch showed up and the next thing you know there was some big bad ass orc invasion. I think it was part of some storyline that I don't remember going anywhere -- some guy named Dherrick?

Later on that summer there was a July 4th invasion in Icemule with redcoat orcs and stuff. First invasion I ever did anything useful in (dragging).

During the breg invasion I got caught in a group that had Blades in it and bashed everyone out of the slave ship or whatever we were being held in.

Still think the Jantalarian occupation of the Landing was the coolest thing, especially for a square, although the new trend of temporary hunting areas (especially for undead) is pretty cool.

I forgot about Blades, I can remember hero worshiping him a bit; same with Drizzsdt until I realised he was a complete %$£& - I can remember he offered to read through a sack of scrolls which I had won at auction (whoever auctioned them couldn't read them and I could only read the lower level spells), he just read them and stole the scrolls with spells he liked on...... Just the sort of noble move you would expect from the leader of the warrior guild.

To be fair to Drizzsdt he was pretty helpful with my guild training so I can't be too harsh but I am 100% sure that what I said was the truth.

Yeah there are alot of tall tales that get told when you're gone apparently. I was nothing but upstanding to those that actually took the time to get to know me and didnt start a conversation with "give me money" or "give me a weapon" or leap out of the shadows trying to hit you just to sat they actually did. It gets very annoying to have your screen scroll from people being idiots or begging. I also was the greatest pickpocket but contrary to the beliefs of many i did not just go around stealing from everyone. I basically stole the gems i saw others steal from someone. It was usually from a rogue who was picking on someone much younger so me being 5-10 times olxer than them i figured it was a good lesson for them on how it feels. When i would be in the park just pocketting gems one right after another it was from the other pickpockets. I could have easily hid without any9ne seeing me went a room over put it away and came back before anyone knew but i did it that way so that hopefully the idiots would figure out that every gem they thought they just put away was gone and i was putting it away. It was actually quite fun when they would realize it.
