Great item for the random dwarf, bard, or alcoholic(it's not a problem if you never run out, right?) - I used it primarily to fix the thirst from 1020, but it's a fun tool to have and ensures you always have a drink handy.

Odd, the gold-handled flagon suddenly seems a little heavier.
The gold-handled flagon is no longer empty.
Different messaging for different drinks, pretty random:
You take a giant drink, then belch. Ah, the pleasures of a good beer.
You take a swig of the ale, managing to get most of it in your mouth. What you don't swallow dribbles down your chin.
You take a sip of your ale, but it seems to be a bit crunchier than it should be. You have no clue what that is floating in your flagon.
You take a chug of your ale, and find it to be surprisingly tangy. There are slight hints of citrus within the flavor.
Even a huge drink of your ale doesn't quench your thirst. It is however, a very good excuse to drink some more!
Ah, a sip of ale from your flagon reveals it to be both full of body and flavor.
