I'd say that's it. And for me personally, they're oog. I get that we want to be inclusive to other cultures, but let them make their own GS. The katana base was an afterthought for that very reason imo. It's oog. They suck and I hate them and everyone else should to.

For ThW use they are a good weapon base. The df and adv stats aren't as high as other base weapons and they are slash only.

yup. they're faster and thus easier to aim, but you can get down to the same ambush time with a maul and crush is better, and they aren't that much harder to aim. If you aren't aiming, you're probably a warrior berserking so you don't really care about weapon speed. Also you're typically locked in to ~4-5x and HCW with a katana and it's very hard to improve it. This weapon, obviously, handles that last problem.

it is also interesting though that katans get decent dex phantom weighting. http://forum.gsplayers.com/showthread.php?83980-Phantom-Dex-Testing , i don't think mauls do (or not nearly as much) but that's just anecdotal. Claidhs definitely don't (lulz), which would be the two weapons most would typically use instead of the katana if using THW (though i have seen more people using battleaxes/greatswords lately)

tl;dr - people want a a big swingin stick they can make better. This is a god damn exceptional katana and would be a great weapon.
