Great... if you want to probably play one thing once and never bother with it again. I say we need to minimize this and just run MMOs from home.

I can't wait to see outtake videos of people doing this, and looking like ABSOLUTE idiots.

It's like watching VR Lasertag. It looks IDIOTIC from the outside perspective. So funny.

In my day, we had laser tag. Now we have VR tag. Ehhhh...

I'll admit it's cool to see that the technology is getting progressively better and this is a huge step up in the right direction. The thing that sends up red flags is the inherent reliance on gimmicks. The place is designed to get you immersed, which screams that the headgear and program are just... there.

It's like an amusement park ride but you're wearing goggles.

I swear to god... I thought that kid was drawing a portal turret.

And Microsoft is really pimping out that they bought Minecraft from Notch. Also, I like microsoft tech.

But you'll miss out on all the Sword Art style MMOs!

This exactly. The whole ad, while it's well done, screams marketing rather than product. It's full of buzzwords and plays exactly like a movie trailer. The whole thing screams "Give us funding and pick up our hardware for your system so we can develop it" rather than "look at this awesome thing we created".

It just makes me think of the Mechwarrior-style VR games at Dave & Busters or whatever similar place.

Some arcades have pods that simulate mech cockpits. Some even shake and rattle.

You don't need to replicate EVERYTHING.

The video with the premade sets had me laughing. It's like it's screaming: "THIS IS LAZER TAG... FOR THE NEW MILLENIUM!"

I wonder how short and predictable the scenarios will be. I can't fathom their funding covering more than a couple minutes at a time. Not to mention you have people waiting in line. So the 'adventures' are probably timed.

Unless it runs off of some 'pay for a day' thing. Which is likely to cost an arm and a leg.

Is this what you were talking about Astray? Damn, Cyberstrike has nothing on this.

But yeah, these things have been and still are limited to gimmicks you go and visit every once in a while as a kid or as an exceptionally drunk adult.

Links. I want to read about this.Swort Art Online is a super sweet anime, not quite as dark as the previous post might suggest but still very dark at times. Like Trigun, it doesn't need gore and cussing everywhere, it just tells a grown-up story. You've not seen any spoilers yet so I encourage you to watch the show from the beginning. Both of them. Right now.

I enjoyed the first and second seasons of SAO quite a bit. Next to Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood it's some of the best anime i've seen in recent years. I've heard ..interesting things about the current third season, but i'm willing to give it a shot. I currently have a few episodes piled up on my DVR, so i'll dig in at some point. Even if they manage to fuck the series up, that doesn't diminish what came before.

I haven't found any anime recently that I like. Tried watching Attack on Titan the other day but couldn't get into it.

That's another which I enjoyed. Quite excellent, if a bit draining due to how dark that shit is.

Attack on Titan is just devastating. I watch it and am anticipating/dreading the next part, but I like SAO/Trigun better because they sprinkle in some joy/levity.

Does it just start out slow? I watched 3 episodes and got bored.

Yeah. It does start out quite slow but picks up once the humans start to fight back, so to speak.

No I've been swamped with work. I can't even keep up with the Kina Transcription Project, adding more anime is a no go for now.

I don't understand what Tottenham game footage has to do with this topic.
