One of the best things about the Internet is you can see how these memes evolve over time. This is most clear in the "to all the kids who survived the 50s 60s 70s etc." one as it's been around the longest, but this is a good one too. The oldest version I can find of this particular meme compares 1976 to 2006 (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x298665), I've seen permutations of 1957 to 2007 but they appear to be modifications of the original. Whoever made this one apparently got a little nervous about corporal punishment but had less concern about grammar. Observe:

"1976 - Jeffrey sent to office and given a good paddling by the Principal."
"1970 - Jeffrey sent to office and given a good shouting by the Principal."

"Scenario: Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt."
"Scenario: Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives screams at him." [sic]

The best part of these particular mutations is that the authors who want the origin to be 1957 clearly thought the schoolchildren of 1970 could use a good beating to straighten them out, yet the schoolchild of 1970 who grew up and made these alterations saw no irony in otherwise aping the original disgust with kids these days. The more things change...

The first scenario for the 1970s is reasonable, in fact I'm sure something like it happened a few times when I went to high school (the first day of hunting season was always a school holiday, and students and even teachers compared kills the next day at school).
