Using sub-optimal spell circle to open door to Rift.

I'm not exactly sure when, but over the last few days my character has been attempting to use the Minor Spiritual circle instead of the Paladin circle to open the door to the Rift.

I'm new to using Lich, and ;narost, is there a way for me to set it to use the paladin circle again to get through the door?

You have to edit the map database to change which spells it uses. Why are minor spirit spells sub-optimal?

My guess would be armor hindrance.
