View Full Version : Error in Updating Lich.

So, I've been trying for hours to update Lich to the newest version. Uninstalling and re-installing various versions, ad nauseum.

Finally got it to actually do something, and end up with this error:

7377

I've definitely avoided the 64-bit/pre-2.0 versions as advised, not sure what that error is. I've even tried just installing and running fresh without copying over (a copy of) the old Lich data from the previous version I was using, no dice. Launcher also seems to keep trying to default to a previous directory where I tried to add the Simutronics Launcher again in a different directory after uninstalling it, and a couple of other error messages. I'm not super familiar with Windows 8.1, which I'm using, but am I missing some way to set firewall/system permissions or is there some element of a previous bad uninstall that's goofing things up? Should I switch to another version?

Any help would be appreciated.

Double-click on lich.rbw, click on the link tab, click both of the unlink buttons if they are clickable, reinstall the Simutronics Launcher.

No dice, unfortunately... they're already displaying as unlinked, and re-installing the Launcher doesn't seem to do anything.

On that note, however... am I supposed to actually RUN the Launcher in some way? I tried opening the .exe file before and after, but nothing happens. Am I installing it wrong? Or did I uninstall it wrong somehow, because the only option I could see for uninstalling it was deleting the pertinent files and running lnchinst.exe again.

Also, after the WinShell error message above, it seems to be timing out on both connection methods.

Addendum: I can run Stormfront just fine through the website, but I can't seem to get Launcher to jive with Lich and I have no clue why.

Can you post the latest debug file from the temp directory in your Lich directory?

I've seen an error for being unable to find that directory too, I think. Also the GSLAUNCHER directory I deleted from a previous install attempt, and can't figure out how to get it to default to the new directory.

OH HEY! I got it to work!!

I reinstalled Launcher in the directory that it was looking for it in, and BAM! Now I'm on the updated version of Lich instead of the horribly outdated one -- thanks for the help, Tillmen!! :D

VICTOLY!!
