Hah, if I wasn't up near the rift right now I just might! But the trip from the entrance to the rift to the landing is way too long a journey for him.

i'll post them in like 15 to see the speed of the recovery

Farquar
10-17-2004, 04:54 AM
So I guess if you have deeds your stats don't take as big a hit?

Praefection

Ugh, looks like I'll be shelling out a shitload of coin to start buying deeds. Yay for me.

Bleh! That sucks!:scared2:

Nakiro

They increase naturally over time, Harmnone.

HarmNone
10-17-2004, 05:03 AM
Dayum! That is soooooo not fun!

Nakiro
10-17-2004, 05:03 AM
So, die without deeds and raised, 20 minutes of recovery? Not bad.

HarmNone
10-17-2004, 05:04 AM
Yeah, Nakiro, I figured they'd resolve themselves with time. I guess now, if you die, you can go take a nap for awhile, eh? :D

wrong

Strength (STR): 100 (25) ... 60 (5)
Constitution (CON): 78 (14) ... 47 (-1)
Dexterity (DEX): 100 (30) ... 105 (32)

Discipline (DIS): 65 (2) ... 39 (-10)

Intuition (INT): 98 (24) ... 59 (4)
Wisdom (WIS): 57 (3) ... 35 (-7)
Influence (INF): 46 (3) ... 28 (-6)

thats a different character, died WITH deeds and raised

but the stats come back MUCH quicker than if you did without them

HarmNone
10-17-2004, 05:05 AM
Heh. I guess if you die and somebody comes and raises you, you'd better hope they can fog your ass the hell out of there before you die again.

HarmNone
10-17-2004, 05:06 AM
Good to know, Hectomaner. At least, there's a way to cut the losses.

Exactly.

Beats the fuck out of having to hunt for 45 minutes and get no experience for doing it.

Nakiro
10-17-2004, 05:08 AM
The hit on stats never changes, just the time it takes to recover from them.

HarmNone
10-17-2004, 05:08 AM
Well, maybe some people will use the recovery time to actually do a little roleplaying, eh? That would be a positive side. :)

<< OOC note: Death's Sting has been implemented within GemStone IV last night. More documentation on this system and how it'll affect you will be coming along shortly. >>

Implement first, documentation afterwards.

Some things never change, tsk.

:D

Haha, that's what I thought when I read it Askip. It's actually pretty annoying when they do that. I guess Simu and logic don't mix well!

Ilvane
10-17-2004, 07:55 AM
Harmnone, I wish it would get people to RP more. All it's going to do is have them sit there zombie-ish for 20 minutes..if they weren't roleplayers before..

My goodness, am I getting cynical?

From what i've noticed thusly. Death sting isn't to terrible, but then again i usually don't know what i'm talking about. Or something. Though i have heard tales of people losing hit points due to constitution loses and the like, but as was said before, i'm clueless.

theotherjohn

worthless system

example

I will still depart confirm every death. My choices are now heal or some other form of exp gain for the 20 mins or do something OOG.

Is that with the booster item we got a while ago? Or is that some kind of bug?

(even if it's the booster item, why is it full when all other stats are down?)

whatever you do, don't bug it and act totally ignorant.

Deaths this level: 18

Yep, I'll be departing every time. Note that only one of those deaths was from another player killing me. I like to hunt way over my head, a bunch of those deaths came from the third level of darkstone, pinefar, and stronghold. Talk about punishing the more adventursome players.

Since I die I'll the time I'll be departing every single time. You have to wait 15 minutes as it is getting dragged into town, waiting for a healer and a cleric, the afterwards (at least I do) you end up tippiing about 7k or so and not have any mana to start spelling up.

Since I figure with the amount of deaths I have, no matter how I get Chiv raised Chiv will always have -25 con points. So I will be departing exclusivly now. I get to immediatly start getting my stats back, get fully healed, no tipping, and get a full head of mana to start the process of spelling back up.

I'll bet that they add back in an experience penalty as well. If they see that people are actually further ahead by not even bothering to interact at all, they'll change it.

That's not a commentary on you, just that they won't like it that the need for clerics is severly diminished or seriously circumvented.

IMO the temporary stat loss is benign compared to the mana/health/spirit recovery rate hit, which you need to actually earn experience to get rid of. That could put a dent in your ability to hunt especially as a pure/semi. I'm thinking deeds and Symbol of Need just got a little more useful to me.

I don't know, the RP of a corpse is usually not very exciting. Departing gives me more time to hang around town and do my thing.

this is gonna suck for invasions. critters will have to come in waves every 20 mins.

I had what I thought was a bug with this....

I died.. it happens.
I had deeds.
I was raised.

I typed info and all my stats were lowered.. :(

My puter froze and I had to reboot...

When I came back (10 minutes) all my stats were back to normal...

Is this a bug? I did bug it.... but I thought my stats would have still been lowered when I logged back in.

I don't recall it saying game time or real time; however, you could have been ghosted that whole time too.

I wouldn't worry about bugging it.

Yea.. this just ended my hunting of Illoke stronghold. I wouldn't mind dying.. but the bullshit fists and falling death crits are completely overpowered there and certainly not worth this risk.
